About this listen

For four years, Kate Marshall has been grieving the loss of her husband and their three-year-old son in a boating accident. But when she spots a familiar-looking child on an escalator in the mall, she is convinced it is the son she thought was dead. With police skeptical of her story, she turns to private investigator Connor Sullivan. The former Secret Service agent is dubious but agrees to investigate. Digging into the case he discovers that the incident may have been no accident at all. But if Kate's son is alive, someone is intent on keeping him hidden - and may be willing to go to lethal lengths to protect a sinister secret. As Irene Hannon's many fans have come to expect, Deceived is filled with complex characters, unexpected twists, and a riveting plot line that accelerates to an explosive finish.

I really liked the story ,the accent was a little to American for me .It possibly made it a bit dated .I liked everything else .It was a bit bizarre how it all just happened .I really liked all the characters .even the bad guy .

Good book

I loved the Hope Harbour books but nothing too exciting happened in them, this pleasantly takes it to the next level, same sort of feel but a bit more drama, suspense and piecing it all together without being as stressful as a traditional crime novel. Really enjoyed this and pleased to have discovered this American author for a relaxing listen. Thanks

Very enjoyable and good mystery

This started off so well as an intriguing chiller mystery story. it soon went downhill with increasing God and Bible references and morphed into a cheesey love story. Glad it was a free book and that I didn't waste my money - only the time I lost listening to the silliness of it all.

Could have been great......

I really enjoyed listening to this story. The author, story, and characters and, of course, the narrator. Will listen to this author in the future.

Really enjoyable book.

This was a good listen though I could not describe it as 'unputdownable'!!!! I will probably listen to another story by this author

Good story

It’s the first book I’ve listened to by this author but I’m not going to look for more. The too frequent references to God’s forgiveness or help or whatever else made it seem like it was canvassing for church members. The story was rather predictable. Not for me.

A bit of an evangelical theme to this.

I liked the story line but it was difficult to know who was speaking as the voices sounded the same and the narrator doesn’t know how to pronounce shortlived. At first I thought it was a slip but then she did it again.

Great story but narrator detracted from it
