About this listen

A killer is playing cat and mouse...and winning.

DCI Whitney Walker’s in trouble. She’s threatened with demotion if she screws up another case. So, when a killer starts murdering female students, it’s a chance to redeem herself.

Forensic psychologist, Dr. Georgina Cavendish, has spent her life inside the university walls, but when one of her students is murdered, she steps out from behind the text books and puts her skills to the test.

The two headstrong women join forces to stop the killer. But sparks fly when real world policing meets academic theory, and it’s not a pretty sight.

Deadly Games is the first book in the Cavendish & Walker crime fiction series. If you like serial killer mysteries and psychological intrigue, then you’ll love Sally Rigby’s thrilling listen performed by award-winning narrator Clare Corbett.

Includes a special bonus note from the author.

Yes there are some holes in the story and some inconsistencies with procedural correctness however a good crime story doesn’t have to mirror real life in all aspects. The story had a lot of potential and the main characters will develop and I’m sure the stories following will be smoother. Good editing should also get rid of mistakes or inconsistencies or clean up if it gets too messy and a story gets lost. For a first in a series and a genre this was not bad at all any enjoyable to listen to. We will see in the follow ups whether the good start will carry forward.

Good start for the series

Really good story made even better by the brilliant narration!!

When I read the summary, I wasn’t overly excited (I only got it because the last book I listened too was also narrated by Clare Corbett who I though was excellent), but as it was included in my audible I thought I’d give it a go. So glad I did, I couldn’t stop listening! Excited that there’s more books to come!

Didn’t realise this was part of a series, but so glad it is!

I enjoyed the story as something to have playing in the background as it was easy to follow. The reader did a good job of the different voices and had a good pace. I guessed the killer quite early on and was disappointed by that but there were still twists and turns to come which kept me listening.

Enjoyed it but slightly predictable

I could tell the author had switched from young adult genre. Simplistic storyline, but it had promise, but didn't deliver. The narrator was not very good, which didn't help. Overall, a filler while you wait for a good audio book to arrive, IMHO.

Not Great,But Not Bad

I was looking for another crime story but trying to avoid some of the typical plot story lines and often stereo-typical investigating teams. The Cavendish and Walker duo are a fresh approach but also their relationship also explores different personalities and assumptions. The story centres around the University and the students which is an unusual but interesting setting, but makes compelling listening. I did guess the perpetrator towards the end but there were plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing.

A fresh approach to a crime fighting duo and intriguing murder mystery

Overall I enjoyed this but it was nothing new and a little predictable!
Won’t be adding it to my favourites.

What a good start to a new series took me a while to guess who was comitting the murders but didn't guess till almost the end that it was both twins. love the relationship that is slowly building between Whitney and George and George saving Typhanie sealef the relationship, narration added to the storyline brilliant
