About this listen

The third installment in the best-selling DCI Daley series, packed with accurate police procedure and gritty, dark humour. The best of Scottish crime.

When a senior Edinburgh civil servant spectacularly takes his own life in Kinloch harbour, DCI Jim Daley comes face to face with the murky world of politics. To add to his woes, two local drug dealers lie dead, ritually assassinated. It's clear that dark forces are at work in the town. With his boss under investigation, his marriage hanging on by a thread, and his sidekick, DS Scott, wrestling with his own demons, Daley's world is in meltdown.

When strange lights appear in the sky over Kinloch, it becomes clear that the townsfolk are not the only people at risk. The fate of nations is at stake. Jim Daley must face his worst fears as tragedy strikes. This is not just about a successful investigation; it's about survival.

This is the second Audible Book in the series. I have already bought the third book. The story is good and well narrated by David Monteath. Denzil Meyrick has used his experience to assist him with police procedures and it affords it a definite realism.
One you settle into the storyline and Mr Meyruck’s style of writing, you feel comfortable to sit back, or (in my case) walk and enjoy the novel.
A great holiday read and each story stands alone, although there is an underlining narrative which means that one is better starting with novel one and carrying on.

Thrilling!

In my opinion Denzil Meyrick's writing and story compilations get better and better. You are not just getting one story. This is lots of layers feeding the bigger outcome. Well supported by David Monteath's narration, thereby giving a strong performance.
Denzil Meyrick's writing just gets better and better.

loved this book slower and more gory from the start than the other two books I've read but the descriptions of scotland are amazing.
