About this listen
Army National Guard Colonel Sawyer Kincaid has served her time dueling with death in the deserts of Africa. Now that she's home, the only sand she wants to see is on the beach in South Florida. Too bad Tropical Storm Leo, swiftly gaining strength out over the Atlantic, is about to draw her in to another life or death war, this time on home soil. Dr. Dara Sims has too many critical patients in the intensive care units at Miami Memorial to consider evacuation, no matter how determined the battle-hardened colonel is to make her. As far as Dara is concerned, evacuate is just another word for abandon. When a state of emergency becomes a state of siege waged by Leo, all she can do is hope the rising waters relent before she loses everyone, herself included. A First Responders Romance.

I have no idea what the producer and/or director of this audiobook were thinking to choose L. W. Salinas to narrate this novel. Perhaps she was cheap and they did not want to spend much on a lesfic audiobook. Salinas pronounces words that should have 's' sounds with a 'th' sound, so we hear eg 'thith ith the thixth time I've heard thith thound', which becomes seriously annoying after a while. L. W. Salinas, her colleagues, friends and family regard this pronunciation as 'cute', and in everyday conversation it may be ok, but to be forced listen to repeated mispronounciation for the length of a whole audiobook is SERIOUSLY ANNOYING.
Over time it has become obvious to me that producing good quality LGBTQ+ audiobooks is not high on Audible's priorities but, since Audible sell these recordings in the form of audiobooks, they should ensure what they sell is of a reasonable standard, including the narration. For this reason Audible should take better care about who is hired to narrate the audiobooks they sell.
Good lesfic novel spoiled by the narrator
