About this listen
One drunken night. One forgotten diary. One impulsive flight to Tenerife.
This New Year, Summer Brookes isn’t making resolutions—she’s making a change. Tired of the cold, her soul-crushing accounting job, and a life that feels stuck, she stumbles across a forgotten diary from her 13-year-old self. Its pages are filled with the optimism of youth, big dreams, and an obsession with her first love, Jamie Reynolds.
Realizing she’s drifted far from the life she once dreamed of, Summer does the unthinkable: she books a last-minute one way flight to Tenerife to track down Jamie, trading grey skies for golden beaches and the promise of adventure.
But escaping to paradise is just the beginning. What if Jamie doesn’t remember her? What if her impulsive leap was a mistake?
On Tenerife’s sun-soaked shores, Summer must confront her past, embrace the present, and decide if she’s brave enough to follow her heart. Will this island getaway be her fresh start—or her biggest regret?

Funny and sometimes too close to home :)
honestly, I didn't like it at the beginning too much... everything felt exaggerated and I couldn't bring myself to connect with the main character at all. maybe it's because main characters are generally so perfect and this one isn't even a bit. the moment the airport scene happened though, I was hooked! that group of people was just hilarious and from then on I just wanted to read more about it and find out how things went. even though one could predict the ending from that moment on, I still wanted to know how it got there !!
the one thing I'd like to add as being weird was hearing Spanish speakers talking English with Italian accents. Spanish speaking English have a different accent altogether and that sort of threw me off.. but other than that, everything was pretty cool! bring on the crew!!

Heartwarming holiday read
Just perfect for a bit of escapism when you’re on holiday. Summer, the heroine, is very likeable and I was rooting for her.

Hilarious.
This is such a wonderful book! It is hilarious, with emotional depth, and the characters are delightful. The brilliant narration by Charlie Albers makes the book even more enjoyable.
A review copy of this book was sent to me by the narrator. All of the above opinions are my own.

Funny and sweet
Cool Girl Summer By Amber Eve I found was a pleasant listen.
This audiobook is narrated by Charlie Albers,I thought Charlie did a great job at telling this story..She performed all the characters male and female young and old and was able to change her voice to accomodate each different character...he even managed to make an annoying whiney voice for Chloe the best friend and it matched her character perfectly.Charlie Albers did a wonderful narration.
This book is a sweet, funny delightful listen there is no sexy times so if you only like your romance with a bit of steam then this isn't the book for you...I enjoy both steamy and not steamy so I didn't mind.
I thought Amber Eve's writing was very detailed and witty I did like the inner dialogue of Summer, she had alot of self doubt and felt she was unattractive..and I really related to how she felt.
Summer Brookes is at a cross roads I think in her life,I think she is unhappy in her job and being overlooked by men..She refers herself as the ugly best friend while her best friend Chloe always seemed to get the guy.
She decides to go and look for her high school crush after her mum give her a box of her teenage diaries..In the diaries her 13 year old self makes a list of things she wants to do and Summer decides she is going to do them.
So on a whim Summer abandons everything to go to Spain to find him after discovering he now lives there.
But her journey takes a weird turn as she meets Alexander Fox ,he was grumpy and argumentative and seemed to enjoy making fun of her reasons for going to Spain.
Summer also meets a group of old age pensioners who take her under their wings, and encourage her to do the things she never would have before.
Summer ends up in the same hotel as her new found friends and enemy Alex, she couldn't seem to get away from the man.
Fate seems to have other ideas for Summers purpose and she seems to always be in Alex's space they are forced to interact and spend time together.
So in time Summer starts to see Alex in a different light other than annoying..Summer has a real adventure in this book and discovers things about herself and finds that people aren't always what you think they are..
She finds something special in the least person she thought she would but is it too late?..as time is not on her side.
Cool Girl Summer is an enjoyable, entertaining and amusing read or listen I liked listening to it.

Really funny
I’m not usually a romance reader, but Amber is such a funny writer that I’ve followed for years so I knew this would be worth listening too. Was not disappointed! It’s a really fun story that romps along. Summer and her band of fairy godparents are very good company and the romance is one you can genuinely get behind. The narrator does a great job of brining the whole thing to life. Highly recommended!

An easy, entertaining listen
An easy listen. Summer is a rather clumsy and accident prone hopeless romantic looking to change her life.
A story about taking risks, achieving some goals and growing into yourself.
Summer is very relatable and you follow her story wanting and willing things to turn out for the best for her.

Perfect for Swifties on the beach!
Everything you want from a beach read - self-realisation, best-friend-turned-romantic lead, enemies-to-lovers and a whole lot of endearing mix-ups, mishaps and mistakes along the way.
I particularly enjoyed all the Swift references!

summer
Loved the narration of Charlie Albers, who brings the humour, drama and great characters to your ears.
While at party Summer is approached by an older lady who advises her not to waste her time in Margate, and to make something of her life before it’s too late.
Summer finds herself on a flight to Tenerife after she reads her diaries. While at the airport a man who is in rush has a go t her. Worse yet she and him Alex are seated next to each other.
The two become friends and even share meals together at their hotel. These two had me laughing out loud.
A great rom com.
