What happens when you find love, but life keeps getting in the way?

When she first meets Adam, Coralie is new to London and feeling adrift. But Adam is clever, witty, and – he insists – half an inch taller than the average British male. His charming four-year-old daughter, Zora, only adds to his appeal.

And yet ten years on, something important is missing from the life Coralie and Adam (though let’s face it, mostly Coralie) have built. Or maybe, having gained everything she dreamed of, Coralie has lost something she once had: herself.

Set against an eventful decade that included the soap opera of five Prime Ministers plus Brexit and Covid, Consider Yourself Kissed puts the subjects of love and family on a grand stage, bringing to life how the intimate drama in our homes inescapably competes for energy and attention with the shared drama of our times.

Consider Yourself Kissed is a captivating portrait of a woman in love which effortlessly balances sweetness with bite, the public with the personal, and humour with heart.

'A deeply enjoyable mix of romance, social comedy and political satire’ Sunday Times

'Actor Leonard reads this delightfully absorbing story of the rougher edges of a happy marriage, which also features acutely observed sociopolitical detail that firmly grounds us in the Britain of the past few years. Brexit, Covid and inflationary pressures might not sound like the ideal backdrop for a love story — but it works.' Financial TImes

'This summer's must-read . . . A sparkily enjoyable romantic comedy like one day and normal people' The Times

I really liked the narration, but the story was awful. Boring middle class people whining about politics and how difficult their privaledged lives are. She just complains about everything, from having to look after her kids to her husband having a job. Complains about politics the whole time, but doesn't actually have an opinion of her own. Only read if you are also well off and bored and unhappy. Otherwise you will find every character very unlikable

Good narration of a boring story

I loved the beginning, the way the couple gets to know each other and the way the book is written. Couldn’t stop reading. Then there’s a whole lefty bit which is just unnecessary and boring about hating tories, over and over again. Then it’s about how hard motherhood is and a quick ending. Had such good potential in first third of the book then a let down at the end.

Got a bit meh in the middle. Boy meets girl and family with kids storyline

Nothing to dislike about this tale of modern life and its challenges - believable and likeable characters

It your usual boy meets girl stuff😊

This is a really likeable book with believable characters in a believable setting - I particularly enjoyed Adam’s prickly mother! Older women in books are often quite bland - all the characters in this novel are well drawn- I reckon this is going to be a massive hit - v nicely performed too.

Characters and relationships-

Beautifully drawn characters are everywhere in this bitter sweet story of a middle class family in London, from Fiona, the ante-natal class leader, to the little old lady who lives next door, Jessica Stanley conjours up the life and times of Corelie as she gets everything she has ever wanted, and by doing so, loses sight of herself. This is my favourite type of book - a literary romcom!

A funny, sweet, contemporary take on family life. I loved it!

Such a good book, loved it - realistic portrayal of relationships, motherhood, work and the reader was spot on with the accents

Brilliant

Loved this book, loved the feeling of family evolution. Of real fallible human experience, real life romance in the body of a family. And an all too real reflection of a woman losing herself in motherhood.

I really enjoyed this audiobook, a very easy listen. It was a great story, reflective of everyday life, relationships and family dynamics. Very well written with a brilliant voice narration, I enjoyed all the different performances of all the characters- overall a very capturing performance!

Beautifully written and kept me interested throughout. A realistic look at love and how our families shape us. Pleasing narration.

Enjoyed the story - it was well written. However, didn’t enjoy the left wing / woke comments which felt forced and unnecessary. Narrator was ok but some of her delivery was quite cringe.

Spoilt by woke / lefty comments
