'Erudite, interesting and, above all, entertaining' ALAN JOHNSON, FORMER UK HOME SECRETARY

'A racy, engrossing read' PROFESSOR IAN ROBERTSON

'Incredibly absorbing, leaving even the most confident orator with food for thought' PSYCHOLOGIES

Communication can make the difference between failure and success. When communication goes badly, it's a nightmare. When it goes well, it's the stuff of dreams.

In this revelatory and entertaining guide, top speechwriter Simon Lancaster reveals that the secret to great communication lies not in logic alone, but in skilfully connecting with people's deepest instincts and emotions. Through the power of connections, it is possible to transform people's perceptions about almost anything, making the scary safe, the unfamiliar familiar, and even turning a 'no' into a 'yes'.

Drawing on cutting-edge neuroscience and ancient rhetoric, Lancaster examines ten powerful connections you can instantly make to change how people think, feel and act. Forget incomprehensible acronyms, mixed metaphors and jumbled jargon; with these connections, you can literally get people's mouths watering, make their hearts race and leave them addicted to your presence.

Packed with wisdom, humour and actionable methods, Connect is the ultimate guide to great communication, giving you the power to inspire, influence and energise anyone, anywhere, anytime.©2022 Simon Lancaster (P)2022 Bonnier Books UK

A masterpiece in communication skills

It's especially rare to find a great author who is also a great narrator, but Simon Lancaster is one of those rare people who can not only weave an informative narrative, but also deliver a passionate narration. Connect! isn't your usual people skills book. It's an examination into what makes people connect with each others as they do, how subtle metaphors can change an entire story and how politicians are using language to move the masses - and much more. I'd strongly recommend anyone either buy the book or listen to this audiobook, because I can't imagine you could finish a single chapter without learning a genuinely useful tip or ten.

For everyone

I would 100% recommended. A very easy listen / read. For everyone weather you are curious, researching or in need of a read. A speech writer, an army general or house wife. At home, in the library or on your weekly mundane commute. This book is amazing.

Only thing I wouldn’t recommend is the first chapter on an empty stomach…

I learnt a lot

Simon's detailed experience and insight shared in this book along with his captivating TEDx talk has been a true source of inspiration for me. Every word he spoke resonated deeply, and I found myself gaining a newfound understanding of communication. It was as if a light bulb had been switched on, illuminating the path towards a more impactful and meaningful way of thinking, writing, and viewing communication. I am grateful for the opportunity to have heard his words and witnessed such a transformative talk/insight, and I am already implementing changes in my own approach. This experience has been nothing short of priceless (well the cost of a download) and I am excited to continue this journey of growth and improvement in myself. Superb contents 100% recommend.

ELECTRIFYING!

What a fabulous audiobook from the UK's best speechwriter and messaging coach.
I am urging all my friends, clients and strangers alike to pick up this book and use its techniques to start communicating with passion and energy.
Cut the corporate bingo and learn how to actually engage and inspire properly with words that (literally) electrify a crowd.
Using great anecdotes, neuroscience and ancient rhetorical devices, Lancaster joyfully presents a toolbox of easy hacks to enable us to light up the frontal lobes among the most difficult conference audience.
