About this listen

In the year 2513, the only thing higher than the seas is what’s at stake for those who sail them.

Rose was born facing due north, with an inherent perception of cardinal points flowing through her veins. Her uncanny sense of direction earns her a coveted job within the Archipelago Fleet, but it also attracts the attention of Admiral Comita, who sends her on a secret mission deep into pirate territory.

Aboard the mercenary ship, Man o' War, Rose joins a ragtag crew under the command of Miranda, a captain as alluring as she is bloodthirsty. Rose quickly learns that trusting the wrong person could get her killed - and Miranda’s crew have no desire to make anything easy for her.

If Rose is going to survive the mission, she’s going to have to learn to navigate more than ruthless pirates, jealous crewmates, swarms of deadly jellyfish, and a host of other underwater perils. Above all, she’s going to need a strategy to resist Miranda’s magnetic pull.

Great read!

From start to finish I was captivated, I loved the world, characters and overall story. I truly hope there is more to come in this series as I would love to know more about Rose and teams adventures.
This is a great story of adventure, discovery and love.

Gay pirates, what more do you want

loved the story and the characters, the narration was pretty good, sometimes hard to differenciate between characters, but that is only a mild complaint. def worth a listen.

😁

I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book ‘cause I couldn’t put it down. I love the dystopian/speculative genre and this book does not disappoint... in fact, my expectations were exceeded. The the story itself flowed so nicely and the characters were so well written I felt like I’d met a crew of people I’d cut up my palm to show my loyalty to without any hesitation. The narrator Annette Romano is brilliant.

better read than listened to

it was a really good plot but the narrator was awful to be honest. she put emphasis everywhere it wasn't needed, making it sound like a play performed by high school students! would read a sequel or listen if the narrator is changed to someone else (Angela Dawes please!)
