About this listen

She fell in love with a killer, now she's one too.

The suitcase was badly rusted, and took Erika several attempts, but it yielded and sagged open as she unzipped it. Nothing could prepare her for what she would find inside....

When a battered suitcase containing the dismembered body of a young man washes up on the shore of the river Thames, Detective Erika Foster is shocked. She's worked on some terrifying cases but never seen anything like this before.

As Erika and her team set to work, she makes the link with another victim - the body of a young woman dumped in an identical suitcase two weeks ago.

Erika quickly realizes she's on the trail of a serial killer who's already made their next move. Yet just as Erika starts to make headway with the investigation, she is the victim of a brutal attack.

But nothing will stop Erika. As the body count rises, the twin daughters of her colleague Commander Marsh are abducted, and the stakes are higher than ever before. Can Erika save the lives of two innocent children before it's too late? She's running out of time and about to make a disturbing discovery...there's more than one killer.

Brilliantly gripping, Cold Blood will have you hooked from the beginning and holding your breath to the heart-stopping and shocking ending.

Well worth waiting for! Great, though scary, story, well narrated and gripping throughout. Erika remains emotionally isolated in many ways but is a gutsy and sympathetic central character. Looking forward to the next one!

Brilliant!

Great story

Erika Foster is back. A suitcase is found with a dismembered body stuffed in it and Erika has another case. Gripping thrilling and a real page turner, with plenty of action and a few unexpected moments. The stories of different characters wind around each other and sometimes connect. The main group that we have come to know Foster, Moss Peterson, Strong. Marsh and Hudson, etc are all here and their relationships develop further, Erika is her usual maverick self and Moss is a good foil for her quietly ordering their investigations. The story of the crimes (of course there is more than one) tells us something of people and their motivations and of the evil that there can be in this world.
Overall a good read although for me not the best in the series but ably brought to life but the excellent narration.
I suggest reading this series in order as it gives a much better understanding of the characters and background stories although this can be read as a stand alone story.

What made the experience of listening to Cold Blood the most enjoyable?

The narration by Jan is, as usual, excellent, she really brings the characters alive - i found myself giggling to several parts of the book. she makes listening so easy and enjoyable.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Apart from Erika, who i love because of her dead pan personality i very much enjoyed the character of Max in this book because i could imagine him in my minds eye and he was generally a good character. (I dont want to give too much awa)

Have you listened to any of Jan Cramer’s other performances? How does this one compare?

Yes, and she is on top form as usual, i am sure she sits in the studio acting out the scenes as she reads them?! she gets in to the story and obviously enjoys reading them, and thats what makes her fun to listen to.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

i had a few giggles - especially with the tazar scene

Any additional comments?

The best book in the series so far.... Robert you are a genius and i look forward to reading/listening to more of Erikas adventures in the future.

LOVED IT.

Kept me up until 3am!!!!...best book in the series

Yet again Bryndza delivers
the unusual. Premise with the reluctant accomplice and the controlling relationship was intriguing but Erikas character seems to be developing with every case. I will be waiting in anticipation of the next installment
Swell written well paced thriller
