Some beautifully written stories. It's a pity the bad narration was so distracting. The accent he puts on is some warped version of an English country accent and nothing like an Irish accent. I found it offensive.

I loved this audio book for the narration and the music and the stories themselves..... if you want to relax and listen to old fashioned cozy tales from Ireland then look no further..... the stories are well chosen and The more you listen to them the more you want hear them again and again .....I’ve been a story listener rather than a reader all my life... what makes a good audio for me is music ... background sound effects ( if appropriate) narrator and the story obviously.... this audiobook has it all!!!! I listen to it quite often and I even let my husband listen to it
(who is half Irish) and he fell in Love with the stories and the way it was presented too...... 10/10

The narration in this ruins some good stories.

I spent much of my time wondering which was worse:
* the pronunciation of the Irish names and words
… or…
* the put-on Irish accents of the narrators

The latter were comparable with Tom Cruise’s accent in Far And Away.
The former were commonplace mis-pronunciations. However, if the creators Audio Connoisseur had any professionalism they’d have got these right.

But then, it reached rock-bottom in the last chapter. “Fuschia” the shrub is hardly obscure or difficult to pronounce. >FEW-sha< is it’s simple pronunciation.
Alas, in this audiobook, it’s pronounced >FUZZ-key-ah<

I just don’t know what to say.
Some good stories, some poor enough.
But the performances are an atrocity.

So bad. So, so bad.
