My name is Alice, and I live in the Bugpocalypse.

I survived my first post-apocalyptic winter, and spring is here. That’s bad news! With warm weather comes the endless swarms of deadly bugs.

I need to forage for food, but there’s just one little problem. Okay, so “little” isn’t the best word to describe the fierce Xarc’n warrior who is obsessed with me. Kaj’k is freakin’ huge! And his sharp claws, pointy fangs, and massive horns are scary AF.

I reject his gift of food and flowers, but my massively muscled alien hunter doesn’t get the hint. He tosses me over his shoulders and carries me to his shuttle. I expect the worst, but all he does is purr at me.

I’ve spent my entire life fighting the swarm. Genetically engineered to hunt the scourge across the galaxy, Xarc’n hunters are the ultimate predators. It takes a lot to take one of us down. Then I meet the little human female who brings me to my knees.

My Alice is full of fire, and I have no doubt she can survive on her own. But she’s my mate, and she’s mine to protect. When cannibals and scourge threaten my female, I toss her over my shoulder and carry her to my ship.

An excellent start to this series. It has been beautifully narrated by Troy Duran and Keira Stevens and has the POV from both Alice and Kaj'k which brings everything to life. Alice and her cousin Natalie have been able to survive the bug apocalypse but it is getting harder and harder. While out foraging for supplies Alice finds herself in trouble and is helped by Kaj'k a Xarc'n warrior who has been watching over her for some time. Despite fearing him she accepts his help and finds herself battling her attraction to the warrior. The more time Alice spends with him the more she realises that the stories that were told at the beginning were lies and starts to trust the handsome warrior. With lots of drama and action, you won't be able to stop listening to this story as you follow Alice and Kaj'k on their journey to survive the devastation of the bugs and their relationship.

The story is predictable, but enjoyable. If you liked Anne Carven's alien series, you'll enjoy this one too.

Narrators do an spectacular job, but then, it’s Troy Duran!

I really liked this romance, it’s fast paced and had some really cool action scenes

I just wish it lasted longer… will def get the next books in the series

Usually I like any effort of my smut author to include a story line. This is so funny, found the exception. Bugs do not make me happy at all. First book by this author. Not bad at all. Easy 3 stars, even wondering about 4. Worldbuilding quite good. Even if the story is short and simple. Characters too. Narrators quite good as well.
