About this listen

If Joe and Vicky had known what relocating to a tiny mountain village in Andalucía would really be like, they might have hesitated.

They can have no idea of the culture shock in store for them...no idea they'll become reluctant chicken farmers and own the most dangerous cockerel in Spain...no idea they'll help capture a vulture and be rescued by a mule.

Will they stay, or will they return to the relative sanity of England?

FANTASTIC!!

What a brilliant series! The situations Vicky and Joe find themselves in are so funny and you just can't help but smile listening to all the characters that make up their little Spanish village of El Hoyo. I found myself relating to the Ufarte family the most which was somewhat concerning!

What a fabulous storyteller. 'Chickens, Mules and Two Old Fools' is a wonderfully entertaining book. I feel as though I know all of the eccentric characters described in the book, and would recognise them all immediately if I took a trip to the village.

I have listened to all three and have thoroughly enjoyed them. They made me laugh out loud, which earned several me strange looks from fellow dog walkers passing by.

I have since introduced my parents to this series and they are currently listening and is making them laugh just as much. I hope the subsequent books will be released on Audible in the near future as the narrator does a great job of telling the tales of rural Spain.

I can't recommend them enough!

Nice story. Narrator a little annoying

Good story. Not totally absorbing but good while busy with other things! Narrator’s tone of voice a little irritating

Sweet entertaining listen

Good amusing story. Unfortunately we'd just listened to another book narrated by Jilly Bond and her delivery was exactly the same which was unfortunate. Her gushing, 1950's giddy schoolgirl narration is jarring.

it grew on me, charming and feel good read/listen

I'd love to know how old the couple are. the narrator made them sound old, but then I thought maybe mid life? the continued optimism and looking on the bright side of everything was very endearing. to begin with I thought of not finishing as I was finding it boring but as it went on, it felt a bit like a soap opera and I was hooked due to all the different characters. nice light-hearted read and quite inspiring
