About this listen

The fate of the galaxy is on the line in the second book of this gripping, visionary space opera by award-winning author Megan E. O'Keefe.

Sanda and Tomas are fleeing for their lives after letting the most dangerous smartship in the universe run free. Now, unsure of who to trust, Sanda knows only one thing for certain - to be able to save herself from becoming a pawn of greater powers, she needs to discover the secret of the coordinates hidden in her skull.

But getting to those coordinates is a problem she can't solve alone. They exist beyond a dead gate - a sealed-off Casimir gate that opens up into a dead-end system. And there's a dangerous new player who wants the coordinates for their own ends - a player who will happily crack her open to get them.

Dazzling space battles, intergalactic politics and rogue AI collide in the follow-up to the Philip K. Dick Award-shortlisted Velocity Weapon.

Not entirely coherent but a great listen

The story doesn’t fully hang together, there are gaps and jumps but despite this, a well written book, well performed. Not everyone will like it but I certainly did and I’ve preordered the final instalment.

Can't wait for the next book!

The plot thickens, lots of twists and turns and I also like that they've used the same narrator as from the first book.
Here and there a few recording repeats (a sentence or two).
Definitely recommend!

Engaging Space Opera continues.

The story continues with the second in the trilogy - you really need to read "Velocity Weapon" before "Chaos Vector" - with the now expected ( after reading the first book) regular twists and turns and some real surprises - beware the last sentence in a chapter!
I am really enjoying the journey and the narration - my only gripe is that, once again nothing is fully resolved, although things are becoming somewhat clearer. Book two is thoroughly engrossing, but is far from stand-alone. I am hoping for some closure when I (almost immediately) go on to book 3 - but I am thoroughly enjoying the journey.

Surprisingly good

This was better than the first book I think but I had to listen to it again before starting this one good intelligent sifi thriller that keeps the listener guessing well performed. Hope we don’t have to wait long for the next instalment. If you like the expanse books you will like these not saying there the same story but the same thought and detail

Very much book 2

An enjoyable romp across star systems. No shocking twists this time just more machinations of the villain revealed and setting up things for book 3.

Narration was good.

Fantastic space adventure.

Strong and well developed characters with a thoroughly engaging, twisting story. Some good laughs too. Cannot wait for part 3.

Kind of OK

The narration was OK. Not great but I've heard worse. A few of the voices sounded identical which threw me a couple of times.

The story felt stilted and seemed to miss things out. Especially if you had forgotten or not read the earlier book. For example one of the characters had lost a leg. That wasn't mentioned early on and it was unclear why they were in a wheelchair or what a peculiarly named piece of equipment was. It was actually a crutch.

There were several of these unexplained occurances. And the background could have some exposition. I vaguely recalled what Prime was but it took a lot of mental gymnastics to recall why it was important. And the star gates. That needed explaining. Ditto the ban on certain research.

This needed tidying up.
