About this listen

A young woman's body is found in a remote barn on the Fens. Before she was killed, one of her fingers had been cut off. Who is inflicting this violence and why?

The young woman in the barn had been kept captive for some time. And the case shows strong similarities to an unsolved murder in Derbyshire. When another woman is found alive with similar injuries, the case grows even more complicated.

At the same time, the Fenland police have received intelligence that the ruthless criminal Freddy Carver plans to make Greenborough the hub for his new enterprise. DI Nikki Galena is desperate to track down Freddie Carver and make sure that he does not put down roots in the Fens, but finding him is not easy. And what's his connection to the kidnapped girls?

Love Joy Ellis but prob not my favourite

Really like characters and stories in the Nikki Galena stories, & again this was a good listen. For some reason the accents in this one were bit harder to get along with and the story not quite so gripping, but still enjoyed.

I like the series but……

I love a detective series but I feel so bad at singling out the narrator Harriet. It sounds so personal but I don’t think I can stand the poor local dialect, the shrill female take on older women from the Fens any more. I like the story lines of this series but the author has used the pathologist Rory from another series and this narrator makes him sound ridiculous. Overall, I have to say it was a battle to get to the end and I be can’t follow through to the next book.

Best one of the series so far

When I started the series I was not sure about the narrator. I got used to her after so many books, but feel she is more suited for 1950’s love/ drama novels. Anyhow, this has been the best book of the series as of yet. Interesting characters, great action and good flow.
