Callie Daniels' mother has one dying wish. She wants neighboring rancher, Garrett O'Neill, to marry her 17-year-old daughter. It's not supposed to be a conventional marriage. Garrett O'Neill would keep Callie's ranch safe, and Callie would go away to college.

Four years later, Callie comes home with stars in her eyes and happily ever after in her heart. She plans to make their marriage real until she finds the new housekeeper, Sylvie, in Garrett's arms.

Heartbroken, Callie takes off to her own house, which they closed up four years ago. She stays there with Old Henry, a longtime friend and ranch hand, until her new horse injures her. Garrett forces Callie to move back in to his house.

Callie finally gets her heart's desire. Alone in a line shack, they make sweet love for the first time. Unfortunately, the love light is gone from Garret's eyes the next morning.

The book quickly draws you in until you really feel the love Callie has for her land, her animals and, ultimately, her husband. They have a rocky time of it between misunderstandings and oil thieves, making it an engrossing story to listen to. This narrator suits me well. Her accent seems to meld with the story and I believe she did a great job. A thoroughly recommended story.

This story is a pleasant surprise, I was not expecting it to be so packed with everything good in a well written plot. You will find wonderful characters with great chemistry, fabulous supporting characters and an engaging story line that have you experiencing many emotions. There is plenty of action, drama, betrayal, greed, suspense and relationships with enduring love that will withstand many trials and misunderstandings. This is a new author for me and I glad I got this free book, I thoroughly enjoyed it and gladly recommend.

Callie and Garret have an interesting marriage. Its a regular roller coaster of love and mistrust. The ups and downs abound but the ups far outnumber the downs.
Callie is very young and seems to have to mellow in temperament before she can find true happiness. She has a wonderful love for animals and has conversations with them that are beautiful.
Garret is a hard working man who in his own bumbling way tries to do all he can to make this marriage work after Callie finishes school and comes home to live but she cant seem to forgive him for pushing her away for four years while she is at school because he feels he is too old for her. His persistence pays off in the long run and there is a lovely happy ever after.
I loved these characters and their attempts to find and hang onto their love and marriage.
Very nicely written by Kathleen Ball and beautifully narrated by Meghan Kelly, this audiobook is definitely worth listening to.

This book has everything. Loved the storyline. Lots of characters that I definitely need more from! Fantastic strong leading lady. Meghan does an amazing job with the narration of this book.
