About this listen

Experience 50 years of wrestling history through the iconic voice of Jim Ross.

For wrestling fans, Jim Ross’ voice is the soundtrack of an era. This book is your ringside ticket to wrestling’s most unforgettable moments—from the announcer who made them iconic.

In the last 50 years, professional wrestling has risen up from a collection of regional territories to become a global phenomenon—and Jim Ross has been there for it all. From the grit and glory days of the 1970s with NWA, to the rise of WCW and the heyday of WWF and WWE, to signing on as on-air talent and senior advisor for wrestling’s newest chapter at AEW, Jim Ross has long had the best seat in the house.

Now, in 50 definitive chapters, chronicling 50 iconic calls across 50 unforgettable years, Business Is About to Pick Up! takes you into the ring, and behind the scenes, as only Jim Ross can.

Immerse yourself in sports entertainment’s most dramatic moments, biggest shocks, and history-making firsts—from watershed collisions like “Stone Cold” Steve Austin versus Bret “Hitman” Hart to industry-shaping milestones like the debut of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the rise of John Cena and Dave Bautista as Hollywood A-list stars, and the birth of All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Then debate which moments Jim Ross just had to include...and what else should’ve made his list.

This book is a celebration of pro wrestling’s past, present, and future—narrated by the Voice of Wrestling himself, who was ringside to call it all.

Another Slobberknocker from Good Ol' JR.

Aside from a couple of factual errors with dates and places and a few jarring audio cuts (like they spliced two different sessions together but forgot check levels) this is another solid piece from the greatest announcer in the history of the business.

Jim Ross is the the voice of wrestling who has a special place in our hearts.

Jim Ross never writes a bad book it seems. He's honest and brings the story of his life from a country boy to the legendary man he is today. This made me tear up with a sadness yet joy to have come across a man who truly is living his dream.

Enjoyable Listen

Really enjoyed this audiobook, liked the fact I could pick it up and put it down easily as the stories were mostly standalone.

Not as good as I hoped

To be honest a lot of these stories you’ll probably have heard before. And he wangles AEW into every chapter. I don’t really care about how Britt Baker relates to Dusty vs the Road Warriors infamous blood incident. Not as good as Jim’s previous two books. Unless you’re a hardcore - avoid.

good but managed to shoehorn AEW into everything

when he is actually talking about the calls he made and the back story the book is fine. what isn't fine is how he shoehorns AEW into every chapter multiple times, oh this happened in 1984, when Tony Khan was born. comparing Ric Flair Vs Road Warriors to Britt Baker Vs Thunder Rosa. it becomes tedious and irritating

could be alot better

Engaging as always

Good Ol JR, the voice of wrestling. One of the most apt nicknames ever in the business of wrestling. Wherever you look in the history of wrestling of the past 50 years somewhere, JR is there. He was the voice of my childhood and continues to call prowrestling and this audio book is incredible just like his previous ones as I've listened to them all. I loved hearing these calls because nostalgia is a wonderful thing but to continue hearing him make great calls to the present day is nothing short of incredible. I loved the book and of course that it is read by the man himself is the greatest gift of all. Thank you JR

Nothing new and poorly read

All stories you’ll have heard before if you’ve read or listened to JR’s previous books or his podcast semi regularly. It’s been edited very poorly too, JR’s voice is all over the place in terms of emphasis and it shows when there were pauses in the recordings and when sessions started and ended etc. Whilst these are editing issues, it genuinely sounds at times as if it’s an AI version of JR reading this due to the random raising of his voice and emphasis put on lines out of nowhere.

I thoroughly enjoyed JR’s previous books but found this one really disappointing both in content and performance. Reluctantly finished it and listened to the end but had sincerely considered seeking a refund at the halfway point due to the poor quality in general.
