About this listen
Number one best seller
I’ll protect her...whether she likes it or not.
Riona Griffin is gorgeous, intelligent, and iron-willed. My perfect woman, except she hates my guts. She thinks she doesn’t need anybody. But she needs me.
She’s being hunted by an assassin who never misses his mark.
I’m going to stay by her side, day and night, keeping her safe. Riona thinks that’s a fate worse than death, but I know she’ll learn to love me.
If this hit man wants to kill her, he’ll have to go through me first.
Broken Vow is the wild and dangerous fifth installment in the Brutal Birthright series. It's a stand-alone bodyguard mafia romance with a HEA and no cliff-hanger. Contains steamy scenes.

I absolutely love Sophie’s books! This series just keeps getting better and better. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Riona and Raylan.
I can't wait for the next book in the series Heavy Crown to be released on audio so I can get Sebastian and Yelena's story.
Wen and P.J. did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would highly recommend this book if you like mafia romances, bodyguard romances, contemporary romance, or romantic suspense.

The plot was great because it balanced the focus between the action/suspense with the romance very well. The pacing was fantastic. I was wrapped up in both elements consistently and invested in the protagonists and their growth.
Wen Ross and PJ Morgan did a phenomenal job in bringing these characters to life. Their performance was consistently strong and their tone, pitch, and pace matched well to my usual settings.
All in all another great addition to the series.
Can’t wait to start the last book in the series.

Riona Griffin is a shark in the court room. She's always known her place in the family business and she's been content to work alongside her uncle working over the contracts of her family's shadier dealings. She's very independent, type A and career orientated... and when someone tries to kill her while she's having a late night swim, the last thing she wants to tolerate is having Raylan play bodyguard. However, when your family has ties to both the Irish and Italian Mafia's and theres power plays going down with taking out prominent Russian Bratva types, she has to accept that perhaps someone is trying to take her out to destroy the Chicago real estate deals the Gallo and Griffin's have been working on. When someone tries to torch her place, it seems the only sensible course of action is to get Riona a lot of distance between Chicago and those who might be leaking her location. Raylan insists he take her to his family ranch, and while there the hunky former soldier uses his Boone cowboy charm to break her defiant spirit like she sees him tame the horses on the farm. She begins to finally let her heart make all the moves and eventually they fall in love. I really enjoyed this story, seeing how Riona finally found some kind of peace in Raylan's arms. Riona is a typical ENTJ female and Sophie Lark did an amazing job in upping the pressure when an intruder tries to kill Riona all the way down on the farm.
Narration by Wen Ross and PJ Morgan was brilliant.

Broken Vow features Riona and Raylan. Raylan was introduced in the last book and made a great first impression with his loyalty and humor. Riona has been present since the beginning. She's always come across as fierce, intelligent and devoted to her family. It was even better really getting inside her head. She is such a strong leading lady and I loved her. And Raylan was a good balance for her. He was so chill and laid back. Even knowing he could be extremely dangerous to the wrong person didn't make him less likeable. He was the yin to her yang and clearly gave her what she really needed.
There were so many unexpected moments. So many things I didn't see coming. But it made it the kind of book you didn't want to put down. It just flowed so well.
The narrators were also amazing. Both gave such life to the story and I especially enjoyed the new to me female narrator P.J. Morgan.

AMAZING voice actors, at first i wasn't overly keen but the more I progressed the better they felt. His country accent feels very natural.
Only bad note was the female voice actor pronounced a few words incorrectly. (example: roof)
Loved the voice actors and the cliche storyline.
