Broken Promise is more of a tragic love story than a paranormal romance. While Parrish discovers her ability to talk to ghosts, the heart of the book is about Karlie and Dominic's emotional and messy love story. There are a few twists, and the ending definitely hit me in the feels. The mob stuff felt more like background noise, but overall, the story kept me hooked.

Both Amanda Stribling and David Black did a good job. I liked how the voices stayed consistent between characters no matter who was narrating, which made it easy to switch between audio and reading.

Would I Recommend This Book?
If you like emotional love stories with a sprinkle of paranormal, give this a shot. It’s not heavy on the supernatural, so even if that's not your thing, you’ll still enjoy it. Just go in knowing it’s more about the love story than anything else.

I didn’t fully connect with Karlie or Parrish, but Dominic's character totally made up for it. He’s the emotional center of the book, and his story really pulled me in. This was a unique, haunting read, and I’m curious to see where the series goes next.

Wow! So many emotions. To be honest I’m a bit of a wreck at the moment, So many tears. What a love story. A love story that’s stretched beyond this lifetime. How to review without sharing spoilers, so, so difficult. A love that was destined to last no matter what. Do you believe in ghosts? I sure do, and it would appear that Parrish Locke can experience them. I don’t know where to start. Do I start with Dominic and Karlie, do I start with the love they shared? Or do I talk about the love between a mother and a daughter, or even a father and a daughter? What a tangled webb this is. Love, loss, lies, deceit, family. Whatever I say wouldn’t do this story justice, just know I lived it, I loved it, and I didn’t want it to end. Narrated by Amanda Stribling and David Black, both were a credit to the story and the characters. Perfect. Thank you Andrea Smith.

This is a great storyline. I’ve not read/listened to anything like it before. I’m looking forward to the next book to see where this is going. Written well and a fantastic performance from both Amanda and David.

Parrish is uncertain as to what direction to take her career and a car accident changes all of that.

Had no idea what to expect going into this book. Author gifted and when Andrea offers, I take, she never fails to keep my attention, this story is not an exception. Storyline has a unique paranormal vibe, but also a love story that resulted in unresolved circumstances that need to be put to rest.
This story is one I have not experienced before and recommend. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I’m looking forward to more.
Amanda and David did a great job narrating.

Andrea Smith has done it again! This audiobook is nothing short of amazing. I didn’t know what to
expect, but the narration team matched with Smith is what sold me. And it is had me from the opening
scene. It starts out with Parrish in a car accident, in a grave yard, and the next thing I know, I am sucked
into a memory of a ghost that speaks to her. Karlee’s takes us through her life, from the time she meets
her soulmate Dominick until her untimely death. It’s romantic, it’s suspenseful, it’s unpredictable and
it’s captivating. Her life is complicated, but she knows real love and true friends. But why is she talking to
Parrish? And what does she want from her? And why can Parrish see her? I am not normally a listener of
paranormal, but I there is something about ghost stories that intrigues me and this one had me
entranced the entire time.

Amanda Stribling and David Black are the narration team for this gem. Stribling has a young voice and
fits perfectly into the role of Karlee. She is 21, yet mature and Stribling captures her essence. Black has a
deep voice and as Dominick creates the dangerous, yet lovable mystique that is a mobster. I love his
voice! This team compliments each other and gave me hours of happiness.

Broken Promise by Andrea Smith exceeded any and all expectations I had for the story. I was immediately pulled into the book and loved how the author incorporated two stories and wove them together. The mafia element so appealed to me. I loved the twists the author wrote, and some I never saw coming. Both Amanda Stribling and David Black were fantastic bringing the characters to life. They conveyed realistic emotions which added to the story. Awesome Listen!!!

Oh wow what a roller coaster! A story in a story. A young lady overcoming a hard childhood. I enjoyed the characters and I thought I knew what was going to happen but I did not lol. I cried happy/sad tears at the end. This book sets you up for the next one but is a standalone. The narration is great. I recommend this book.

Broken Promise by Andrea Smith is a mafia romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Amanda Stribling and David Black. The book was previously published as Silent Whisper.

I absolutely love Andrea’s books and this one is no different. I really enjoyed this mafia romance with a twist of paranormal activity with Parrish Locke being able to see the dead. I can’t wait for the second book in the series Broken Dreams to be released on audible.

Amanda and David did an amazing job on the dual narration. They really know how to bring a story to life.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who loves mafia romances or mystery romances.
