About this listen

Brexit Briefly offers you a concise summary of the history and formation of the European Union and the decision of the UK to leave.

Politics can be complicated and filled with language that needs you to use a dictionary to decipher. Not with Brexit Briefly! This book has details on all the following: Brexit, the European Union, and all the nitty-gritty details in between. The audiobook’s language and descriptions make it an easy listen. So get listening and impress everyone you know with your knowledge of all things European politics and economics.

We begin by defining the European Union, which was not only an economic decision but also a political one that came with responsibilities to be followed by the states within the Union. Additionally, this audiobook follows the path that facilitated trade between the European Union states and what made the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland choose to exit such a system. Then it moves on to the decision of Britain to exit from the European Union (dubbed “Brexit”) and the consequences that befell the other countries who may or may not have wanted to leave as well. Lastly, we discuss some potential ramifications of Britain’s exit from the European Union in detail.

While I appreciated the simplicity and clarity, I wish there had been a bit more depth in some sections, especially around the economic impacts post-Brexit. That said, it’s still a solid introduction and a valuable listen. The narrator did a fantastic job keeping the material interesting. Great for beginners, but those looking for deep analysis might want something more detailed.

Always wanted to listen to some sort of Brexit book but was a bit put off not knowing whether or not I could stand to listen to it for 10 hours. With this book however it tells you all you need to know in a much more manageable timeframe

This audiobook breaks down a complex and often overwhelming subject with clarity and simplicity. "Brexit Briefly" gives a well-structured overview of the European Union’s formation, Britain’s role within it, and the Brexit process itself. I especially appreciated how the author made dense political topics approachable, even for those without a background in economics or politics. A fantastic primer for anyone looking to understand modern European history.

I knew very little about the EU and Brexit before listening to this, but now I feel like I have a solid grasp of both. The way the author maps out events chronologically helped me understand the build-up to Brexit and its broader implications. It's rare to find political content that is this accessible and engaging. Definitely worth your time!

What impressed me most is how neutral and educational the tone of this audiobook is. The author doesn’t push an agenda but instead presents facts and historical context clearly. From the trade systems of the EU to Britain’s motivations for leaving, everything is covered succinctly but thoroughly. A brilliant listen for anyone who wants an honest overview of Brexit.

Being too young to vote during the referendum, I feel I still had so much to learn about Brexit. Although it’s been non stop spoken about since it happened, I find the language used online difficult and confusing. I feel like this book answered my questions!
