About this listen
Are you trapped in a never-ending cycle of deadlines and demands, feeling disconnected from the job you once loved? Is your organization turning a blind eye to burnout, despite your colleagues and team experiencing similar struggles?
While workplace burnout is gaining recognition, executives remain slow to act, skeptical of the need for change.
It's time for you to take meaningful action, not only to prevent burnout for yourself, but also to foster a thriving work environment.
In this comprehensive guide, you'll learn:
- The five step burnout resilience formula: Shield yourself from the physical and mental symptoms of burnout and safeguard your health.
- Establishing boundaries: Preserve your focus and energy without compromising your needs or values.
- Leadership's role in workplace culture: Collaborate with your boss to create a supportive environment that deters burnout.
- Managing challenging coworkers and toxic bosses: Safeguard your well-being when dealing with difficult individuals, even those seemingly impossible to please.
- Seeking professional support: Discover resources and find the right people to assist you during tough times.
- The importance of breaks and disconnecting: Recharge and gain a fresh perspective to tackle heavy workloads and tight deadlines.
- Navigating high-pressure situations: Stay calm and focused, gracefully handling even the most demanding of circumstances.
This book delves into the true nature of burnout, a natural response to chronic stress that can affect anyone.

One takeaway I have already started on is recognizing the role of leadership in workplace culture. I have started talking to my boss more about how I am feeling and how the culture of our team is contributing to my burnout. He has been very open to hearing me and even started providing solutions and ideas to help me. We have already started shifting some of the projects that are weighing on me to other people who do not have enough work to do.
The book has a theme throughout it which emphasizes the importance of contributing to a workplace culture that prioritizes mental health and well-being for everyone around you. Being able to speak up about burnout is important and should be more accepted. Either we speak up about the burnout and it is accepted or we leave our jobs for a less stressful one.
One way I am contributing at work is by now hosting a quick 30-minute meeting with my team (voluntary based) to help teach them about burnout, what we can do for each other, how we can start to recover, and then also adding in laughter therapy and how acts of kindness in our daily lives can be so impactful.
Whatever you learn from this book, be sure to share it with your coworkers. Slowly you can begin to shift your workplace culture to a place you cannot wait to go to every day.

Now I have a new job. I only work 3 days a week and shy away from big projects and roles. I'm still worried about getting sucked into the downward spiral I suffered before. Thanks to this audiobook, I have joined a gym and prioritize sleep. I also spend 5-10 min every morning doing small tasks like making my bed and taking out the trash. These small routines provide a sense of accomplishment at the start of my day. It sets the tone for the rest of the day.
It's not workaholism - its burn out
