Tusindvis af børn blev født som resultat af forhold mellem tyske kvinder og amerikanske soldater under Anden Verdenskrig. Omkring 3000 af disse uøsnkede børn blev mere eller mindre illegalt sendt til Danmark til adoption. Men de manglende regler for adoption resulterede i, at mange børn blev anbragt hos ikke-egnede familier og resultatet deraf var både misbrug og anden omsogssvigt. For første gang fortaelles historien nu - med de nu voksne adoptivbørn selv som medvirkende.
