About this listen

A sparkling romance by the author of the Albert Campion detective series with a similar wit, mystery, and romance. Similar to Georgette Heyer's early romance, The Black Moth.

Narration is terrible with a disconcerting musical background. Love Margery Allingham but didn’t get past 5 minutes because of the delivery.

Should have checked the sample.

Streams at low volumn. When you can hear consists of monotonous background lift music. The narrator gives a good impression of having a stroke or being drunk. Having been with Audible for more than 10 years I have never heard anything as bad. I can't believe anbody at Audible reviewed this book before putting it out for sale. Total waste of money.

If I could have rated the performance 0 I would have done. The awful American drawl was not even rendered bearable when I sped it up. This, added to the repetitive background jingle caused me to abandoned it at the start of Chapter 2.
I'm a great fan of Margery Allingham and might have persevered with the narrator but for the background dirge. I even tried a random later chapter - it was still there!
I may have been unfair to the story, difficult to believe she would have produced a truly dreadful book.
What were the producers thinking of.
Avoid this one.
