They don't make footballers - and football autobiographies - like this anymore. The brutally honest, riotously entertaining story of the much-loved Everton legend and iconic Premier League bad boy.

Praised by Wayne Rooney and Sir Alex Ferguson as one of the greatest and most passionate players to ever play the game, Duncan Ferguson, or Big Dunc as he is known, is larger than life in every sense. Measuring a towering 6 feet 4 inches in height, from the moment the striker emerged in British football in the 1990s, he was front and back page news.
On the pitch, fans loved Duncan for his roguish charm, his thrilling goals and his total commitment in every game. Fighting tooth and nail, he was a born leader and took no prisoners. Like his rival Roy Keane, he played close to the limit, and often crossed it. Such as the time he was sentenced to 3 months in Glasgow’s toughest prison for headbutting an opponent – the first and only time a footballer has ever gone to jail for a crime committed on a football pitch.

In BIG DUNC: The Upfront Autobiography, Duncan reveals, for the first time, the full story: the truth about his experiences in prison, his partying with African princes and Liverpool gangsters, his fighting with burglars, his making and losing a fortune, and how he turned his life around through his beloved Everton F.C..
In the process, the book sheds light on one of football’s most charismatic but notorious and enigmatic hardmen. He is a pillar of the community in Merseyside, giving back to stricken children who share a similar tough upbringing to his own. Duncan's book takes readers on a rollercoaster ride of humour, drama and redemption. Buckle up.

'A hell of a read. I couldn't recommend it more. Powerful' Gary Lineker

‘Pure charisma’ The Times

‘The honesty is unrestrained … there is humour … there is much to amuse … He has been through the storm and lived to tell the tales’ Daily Mail

Dunc will always be a cult hero at Everton he wasn’t prolific but he got what it meant to be an evertonian. Hearing him finally tell his story his generosity commitment and hurt in the way the club sometimes treated him. I hope he goes an gets that club that puts him on the map to one day lead his beloved blues out at bmd. I finished this book in 1 day great having big dunc read it as if he’s just talking from the heart.

As a football fan and long-time admirer of Duncan Ferguson’s no-nonsense approach on and off the pitch, Big Dunc did not disappoint. The autobiography is everything you’d hope for: raw, honest, and full of heart.

Ferguson takes readers through the highs and lows of his career — from the chaos at Rangers and his controversial prison sentence, to becoming a cult hero at Everton. What stands out most is how open he is about his past mistakes, the pressures of professional football, and his fierce loyalty to the people and clubs that shaped him.

The book’s tone is straight-talking and emotional in all the right places. You get a real sense of the man behind the headlines — tough as nails, but fiercely protective and principled. Whether you’re a Blue or just someone who appreciates characters who wear their heart on their sleeve, Big Dunc is well worth the read.

Highly recommended for football fans who enjoy autobiographies with grit, passion, and real personality.

Honest review of his life

This is one of the best books I have ever listened to, and probably the best sports autobiography of all time in my view. Duncan chose to start the book covering his time in HMP Barlinnie, gut wrenching to say the least. The fact he reads it himself makes it all the better. He conveys his passion and honesty and reliving the moments of triumph- and defeat has real meaning for the listener.
As the book goes on you realise that most of the world has got this man wrong. He's a kind, passionate and thoughtful guy that wears his heart on his sleeve and says it how it is, which of course not everyone wants to hear, especially in the moment,
I think all football club chairmen out there if they are looking for a coach should read this book, many would hire him on the strength of it. What a guy!

Absolutely Brilliant!

If it’s enjoyable listening book about his life, I think he should go for the Motherwell job I think he would be good for Motherwell
Thanks for a good story
