About this listen
Who's afraid of the big, bad Wolfe?
Red Ridley knows he could have a happy life in Ever After, New York, waiting on tables at Mom and Pop's, making numbers add up for clients, studying business at the junior college - and maybe, just maybe having the man of his dreams, Mark Woods, the young owner of the local garage. One problem. Red's gorgeous. Amazing looking. Totally unique. And no one who sees him - especially his grandmother, who's his biggest promoter - believes he won't end up on the cover of a magazine. Gran's dreams come true when famous New York agency owner, Brock Wolfe, shows up in Ever After and sets his sights on Red.
Red doesn't want to leave Mark, but Gran has given everything to raise him, and the money he could make would give her a happy, easy life. Then, the news gets worse - Gran could lose her house - so Red breaks down and goes to New York where the Wolfe shows just how bad he can be. Faced with a fate worse than death, Red needs a hero or needs to be one. Is there any chance to live happily in Ever After?
Contains mature themes.

I digress... onto the story....It was definitely an interesting reimagining, with an AWFUL grandmother & honestly I really didn't want the "Woodsman" to save her from the big, bad wolf!
Mrs Delphi was the Granma we needed, but didn't get & I think after all her help, she should've played a part at the end of the story... some show of gratitude from the boys, perhaps 🤷♀️
Some of the names were really on the nose like Wulff, Coyoten, Mark WOODS 😂
I really liked that Red had spunk & always stood up for himself. He only ever really got into dire straits trying to help his Granny from her own foolishness!
At first, the Gran seemed sweet & caring, however it soon became clear that she was "interesseira", another Portuguese word that doesn't really have an equivalent in English, but along the lines of grasping, somebody who uses people without compunction, kinda like a gold digger... basically someone who only concerns themselves with what they can get out of someone else... that's NEVER a good person & to top it off, she was also a godawful snob....
& no one will convince me that she didn't hear what Brock was saying & that's why she had a conniption... but as it didn't suit her needs, she pretended she didn't know!
& how incredibly selfish of her to admit that turning the blog into a profitable venture didn't suit her, but she expected her teenage grandson to pimping himself to get HER out of debt.
I didn't like the Grandma as soon as it became clear that although it appeared that it was well-meaning, she was both coercing & manipulating her grandson for her own gain.
& how unconscionably cruel she was to a man who'd been nothing but kind to her & for her to use the fact that her grandson trusted her implicitly to make him be as cruel as she was... vile character!
Sorry, I was not won over by the conclusion... too little, too late & she was far too selfish throughout the whole book for a simple sorry to suffice 🤷♀️
Although, I liked the story... I think that all the villains like Grandma, Wulff & Phil kinda got off scot free... none actually got their just deserves, hence why I can't rate it higher, but I did love the new spin on a very old tale 👍👍👍
an interesting reimagining
