About this listen

Perfect for fans of Killing Eve, The Guilty Wife and Friend Request.

Maggie is a husband watcher. A snooper, a marriage doctor, a destroyer of dreams, a killer of happy ever afters. She runs her own private detective agency specialising in catching those who cheat. And she is bloody good at it.

Helene is a husband catcher. A beautiful wife, a doting stepmother, a perfect homemaker and a dazzling presence at parties. She has landed herself with one of the most eligible bachelors in town - handsome property developer Gabe Moreau.

Alice is just a teenager. A perfect daughter to Gabe, a kind stepchild to Helene, a tragic girl to a dead mother. She lives a sheltered but happy life, until she finds that handwritten note: 'You owe me. I'm not going away.'

All three women suspect Gabe Moreau of keeping secrets and telling lies. But not one of them suspects that these lies could end in cold-blooded murder....

Critic reviews

Praise for Ali Knight: "Crackles from first page to last." (Daily Mail)

"A suspenseful Hitchcockian tale...[one of the] top ten crime books to take on holiday." (The Telegraph)

"Tightly-plotted, high-pitched psychological thriller...what Ali Knight does so successfully is broach the great divide between public and private space." (Daily Mirror)

Started off good then just got really boring and drawn out. Naration was nothing to write home about either.

Meh

Just couldn’t get in to this book. By chapter 9 I just gave up. Not sure why it didn’t grab me but it’s the first time ever I have not listened to the end!

Numb

I did not want it to end...the story just keeps the listener engaged throughout the 9hrs.

Loved this book!

This excellent and unusual thriller was beautifully brought to life by the excellent narration and I was actually surprised to see all the characters were played by the one, super talented narrator Candida Gubbins as they really were all so different from one another.
I started off not warming to the brash, cockney Maggie but soon I was captivated and I loved the many depths and backstories of the characters and the layers of deception, illusion and plot twists.
This thriller was a generous cut above the usual offerings of the genre and just kept twisting and turning until the very end. By their very nature murder mysteries so often disappoint as the reveal does not live up to the premise and it all appears rather contrived, however "Before I find you" really packed a punch with delightful puzzle after puzzle.
The end may have been a touch far fetched but apart from that I could not fault it and I loved the way the story was told from so many different perspectives and sizzled along throwing punches along the way.
I am now going to catch up on the rest of Ali Knights work and keep a keen eye out also for more of Candida Gubbins excellent narration to.
Highly recommended!
