About this listen

The 12th explosive novel in the internationally bestselling Skulduggery Pleasant series, BEDLAM will blow your mind – and change everything…

On a desperate journey to recover her sister's lost soul, Valkyrie Cain goes up against the High Sanctuary itself, and there's nothing Skulduggery Pleasant can do to stop her.

With Abyssinia's grand plan about to kick off in a night of magic, terror, and bloodshed, it falls to Omen Darkly to save the lives of thousands of innocent people.

And as the madness unfolds around him, as hidden enemies step into the light, and as Valkyrie is sucked into a desperate, lawless quest of her own, he has no choice but to become the hero he never really wanted to be — or die in the attempt.

The narrator just can't do accents. I'm all for different voices for characters but both Tanith's English and Melitsa's Scottish accent were what you'd hear in a carry on film and you'd not guess Razia was Australian unless you knew.

great book ruined by terrible accents

Enjoying the series. So far. The twists keep on coming, can’t wait until the last instalment!

A really good listen

I found it very hard going finishing this book, and it was not because of the story. It was painful listening to the narrator butchering any accent that wasn't Irish. Militsa in particular was... excruciating.
I am always wary when I see a review stating that an author "has done it again", as it usually means that the book is exactly the same as the last one, and nobody has developed or changed in any way. Derek Landy could easily have fallen into that trap, but he hasn't. Valkyrie has changed enormously over the books, sometimes in ways that you may not wish for her, but always in a way that is believable. I love hearing from her parents, who are hilarious, and I was pleased to see more of Tanith. But I hated having to listen to the piss-poor way in which Tanith's and Militsa's voices were narrated. Atrocious. The worst part is that you stop paying attention to what they are saying, and that is bloody tragic, because everything Landy writes should be paid close attention to!

Great book, ruined by a poor narrator

I absolutely loves the original series, and re reading (or listening) to the originals i fell back in love. The first 2 books of the reboot I found to be good and still with classic Landy styling but it wasn't untill this book i was fully hooked back in. and it was right off the bat, that note before the stsrt and the way the first chapter unfolds. I knew it meant business, and this book delivered. And the ending, oh my god the ending. Didn't see that coming, neither will you ;)

Hooked again!

This has got to be one of the most brilliant books in the series yet. However, I feel that the narrator absolutely ruined this masterpiece. Nero fitted much better as American, and now he sounds even whinier. Militsa Gnosis and Tanith Low are both fantastic characters. The accents Kevin Hely has given them... are not. It gets to the point where the accents distract your focus from the actual writing, a true tragedy as Tanith is one of my favourite characters in the entire series. I love the writing, but please, and I cannot stress this enough, find someone who is able to do the accents in the series properly. I would encourage everyone who listens to this audiobook to read the physical copy if you haven’t already - Kevin Hely does not do it justice.

Splendid storytelling... awful narration.

I liked every thing. There was not anything that I disliked. I recommend this book to people who like a lot of detail and action and Adventure. I give this rateing because there are a lot of funny parts in the book and it has got so much detail that you get lost in the book and don’t pay attention to the present.

The wonderful bedlam
