i didn't dislike any of it I could read it all over again absolutely brilliant

I enjoyed the book, as much for the detective process as much as the context of the crime. The cosy crime genre seems to have overtaken traditional police procedurals of late, and it’s good to have a decent copper amongst us once more. I’ll be looking out for the rest in the series. The narrator did a great job.

I liked it, few books who delve into climbing and have a actual story with it but this did. It was clear however that the narrator wasn't fully up on all the gear and terms which wasn't an issue as such, just kind of bumped out of the immersiveness of it.
Not entirely convinced by the last part too, but I suppose that just made me feel something different like a book should.
I'll likely end up with the whole series and hope there's more climbing or something like it in them.

I enjoyed the story, having listened to the later stories in the series. It was good to know how it all began. Narration was superb as usual.

A good story spoilt by a lack of characterisation in the voice over. The books are a bit short for the cost

After reading, and enjoying, no:13 in the DI Nick Dixon series, I decided to go back to book one to see how it all began. As the Crow Flies is a quick and easy read, a police procedural, in which the detective, recently transferred from the Met to the Avon and Somerset police, investigates the fall to his death of an old friend in an apparent climbing accident. Enjoyable story, well performed by narrator Simon Mattacks.
Recommended to British crime fans.

As I actually come from Brent Knoll I found the story more intriguing, the writer accurately describes all the local areas, never been into murder mystery before but I couldn’t stop listening and the narration was fantastic I am now moving onto the next one

I’ve really enjoyed listening to the first audiobook in the DI Nick Dixon Crime series.

The story was entirely and had a number of twists and turns. The ending in particular was very clever, I didn’t see it coming.

The narrator was very good too. Simon Mattacks made the characters come to life.

If I had a complaint it was I wished the audiobook had been longer, that’s how good I found it. I can’t wait to listen to the next audiobook in the series.

The best crime novels leave me feeling like I really want to get to know more about the detective as they're characters are so entertaining and rich and usually a little bit quirky. Sadly, for me, in this one, the character, style of writing and narration was dull as dishwater and I couldn't wait for it to finish.
