About this listen

From the number one overall Amazon best-selling series comes a new novella about greed, lust, sex, and deception.

When PI Jack "Keeper" Marconi is approached by a meek man by the name McNamee about a beautiful blue-eyed, long blonde-haired woman who took him not only for $9,000 worth of charges on his credit card, but who claims to be pregnant with his child, Keeper can't help but feel suspicious. Is the woman running a small time prostitution ring that also specializes in credit card fraud and larceny?

He agrees to take on the job of surveilling the would-be madame, if only to get the man's money back. But what he discovers in the process of looking into this femme fatale who just happens to reside in Arbor Hill, one the of most dangerous neighborhoods in Albany, NY, is that not all prostitution rackets are what they appear to be. And what's worse is how easily he himself can be lured into a spider's web of sex, cash, loneliness, and murder.

For fans of Michael Connelly, Charlie Huston, Robert B. Parker, Donald Westlake, and more comes the latest quick hard-boiled and Albany noir read from New York Times and USA Today ITW Thriller and PWA Shamus Award-winning author Vincent Zandri.

"A hugely successful series...Vincent Zandri’s The Guilty is a gripping combination of old-school hardboiled detective yarn and a ‘80s high-octane action movie. Immensely enjoyable." (Paul D. Brazill, Pulp Metal Magazine)

I loved this quite short book. It has good characters that you quickly connect to and draw you into a simple but elegant story.
The interplay of relationships is felt throughout the story.

Andrew B Wehrlen once again provides a masterful performance bringing the characters to life and driving the story with an emotive performance that is pitched perfectly.

I definitely recommend this book to anyone that enjoys a thriller with strong characters.
I am looking forward to listening to more in this series.

Arbor Hill in Albany, New York, used o be an attractive place. Not any more. But it's the location for P.I.Keeper Marconi's next case - a man who claimed he'd been ripped off by a woman he met through Tinder, a phone app.which brought together people looking for an instant partner in their general location. The woman's name, he said, was Missy Smith and she'd taken him for 9,000 dollars then claimed he'd made her pregnant. Keeper and his handy friend, Blood, investigate.

Another quirky, slick dialogue, humourous story from Vincent Zandry performed impeccably by Andrew Werhlen, the personification of Keeper himself throughout as well as giving distinctive voicings to every other character. A perfect pairing of text and narrator.

It's fast, it's fun and a very enjoyable romp. My thanks to the rights holder of Arbor Hill who, at my request, gifted me a complimentary copy, via Audiobook Boom. If you like laid back detectives who don't mind sometimes crossing the line, with humour, good dialogue, unusual storyline and visual impressions, all narrated perfectly, this is for you. Recommended.

Missy, Teddy and those big blue eyes.
