About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The Sunday Times best seller from the worldwide best-selling author of Amazon Prime's Nine Perfect Strangers and the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning HBO series Big Little Lies.

The Delaney family love one another dearly - it's just that sometimes they want to murder each other....

Joy Delaney and husband Stan have done well. Four wonderful grown-up children. A family business to envy. The golden years of retirement ahead of them.

So when Joy Delaney vanishes - no note, no calls, her bike missing - it's natural that tongues will wag.

How did Stan scratch his face? And who was the stranger who entered and suddenly left their lives? What are they all hiding?

But for the Delaney children there is a much more terrifying question: did they ever know their parents at all?

Apples Never Fall has been optioned for TV by Heyday Television.

"A tour-de-force of a novel; brilliantly plotted and superbly written.... The tension builds to a conclusion alive with ingenious twists. Smart, sharp and utterly riveting." (Daily Mail)

"Utterly and completely wonderful. I've loved all of Liane's books but Apples Never Fall is next-level writing: an intelligent, forensic portrait of a family." (Marian Keyes)

"A fantastic storyteller. Apples Never Fall is gripping, getting to the dark underbelly of a seemingly perfect family. A cracking read." (Lorraine Kelly, ITV)

Much more than a murder mystery with a twist!

Excellent layered story, as always from Liane Moriarty. Her acute observational skills and careful structured writing make for a compelling read/listen.

Another solid book

A typical Liane Moriarty book. Lots of characters, flashbacks and interweaving of several stories. Lots of events that are seemingly unrelated to the story come together at the end. Overall a good solid book from the author but not my favourite.

Wonderful to hear Caroline Lee reading Moriarty

Caroline Lee is a fabulous reader and makes what might not be Moriarty's best book a warm and soothing listen. Love the world this is set in, love all the characters and, if a tiny bit predictable, it doesn't matter because it's like hot apple crumble with custard. Gorgeous.

My favourite LM book so far! Completely gripping.

I tried to savour every word, but it’s hard not to feel bereft when you have heard the last chapter! I didn’t want it to end. The characters are so real and the siblings very individual and distinct. The narration is incredible! How does Caroline Lee make all the voices so different and believable? Thank you to both Liane and Caroline for a wonderful experience. I was totally gripped from start to finish.

I found it painful to hear the last part set during the pandemic in the present day. So sad that a whole book has been written, published and narrated whilst we are still dealing with this awful situation! Stay safe everyone. ☺️

She does it again….

Another incredible story from Liane, she never disappoints. Beautifully narrated by Caroline Lee. Interesting, complex, family relationships wrapped up in a great story. I like how it didn’t end where you expected it to.

Good read.

Enjoyed the story. Narrator generally good but terrible Irish accent for Irish character., who luckily had only a small role!

brilliant story

kept me enthralled throughout and couldn't wait to listen to more. the only slightly off-putting thing was the terrible Irish accent attempted but as its not in it much it didn't really impact the enjoyment overall
