Great happiness, as well as sorrow, greets the newlyweds as their early years together unfold. Narrating the work of a consummate storyteller is a tall order, and Barbara Caruso rises to the occasion. She is an unobtrusive narrator, letting the power of each episode take center stage. All the while, she adds her mark to each personality - the spunk and glow of Anne, the eccentricity of Miss Cornelia, the heartache of Leslie - and brings merit to the recording.

I read the Anne books when I was a girl and I loved them. Almost 20 years later I've now read them again and I still love them. Not only do I love them still but I can appriciate the writing more today. It is beautiful and romantic but also oh so funny and heartbreaking, in a well balanced way.
These books give me that achy feeling that Anne somtimes describes, when something is so momentary and beautiful it hurts a little.
