About this listen
However, a seemingly senseless murder puts her reputation, and even her life, under threat...
©2008 Nicola Upson (P)2008 WF Howes LtdThe story explored many facets of human nature including jealousy, hatred, romance, love of many different kinds, sacrifice, loyalty and friendship.
Once I realised how it was going to unravel, I became completely engrossed in how it was going to be explained - gripping stuff!
Not a book to drift off to sleep to but a really enjoyable, gripping novel.
The narrator was excellent and I just loved Josephine Tey's soft 'borders style' accent!
A gripping read!

disappointing

Needlessly so
Very hateful with passionately evil antagonists and an otherwise truly idiotically slow witted caste of 2D characters.
I almost stopped listening an hour in, but I stayed with it and in the end found it’s construction was complex straining past the ability of the material to cope. But a fine tribute in the modern age to a golden era classic author( pen name)
Overall i’d probably listen to another in the series.
Convoluted to stress levels beyond the imaginings of people

Josephine Tey's writing is, as ever simply joyous. She had a perfect deft touch - never labouring but always leading us on through the story. The crime was good enough, but the subplot of the relationship between Josephine and Archie was riveting in itself.
I have enjoyed this production so much. Well worth it.
A Gripping Tale
