About this listen

Losing people you love is hard.

Aurora De La Torre knows moving back to a place that was once home isn’t going to be easy. Starting your whole life over probably isn’t supposed to be.

But a small town in the mountains might be the perfect remedy for a broken heart. And checking out her landlord, across the driveway, just might cure it too.

This is grumpy/sunshine at its finest. Tobias Rhodes has no clue his life is about to be upended by Aurora turning up seemingly out of the blue, having rented the apartment above the garage completely unbeknownst to Rhodes thanks to his son Amos doing it behind his back to earn money for a new guitar. They slowly and somewhat reluctantly, on Rhodes' part, develop a friendship. Aurora with her kindness and her tenacious attitude slowly win him over until it's clear they are both starting to feel more for each other. I loved how the relationship between not only Aurora and Rhodes develops but also her friendship/relationship with Amos, how she sticks up for both of them in different ways and I really enjoyed the bonds they formed individually and as a group. The way Rhodes and Amos chase Aurora down when they think she is going to leave gets me every time! This is like a warm hug in book form, and I just adore it!

"The people we lose take a part of us with them… but they leave a part of themselves with us too."

"We love you—I love you—because you’re mine. Because being around you is like being around the sun. Because seeing you happy makes me happy, and seeing you sad makes me want to do anything I have to to get that look off your face."

"I don’t know how anybody would let you walk away, and it isn’t going to be me. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not ever. Are we clear?"

"I love her. And I will gladly give her all the things you were too stupid not to give her. You wouldn’t even hold her hand in public, right? Or kiss her?” he basically taunted him. “I’m fine not being the first man she’s ever loved because I know I’m going to be the last."

I love all of Marianna Zapata’s books - and Callie Dalton was made to read them! It’s a match made in heaven.

This is no exception, full of characters you wish you knew, places you wish you could visit and deep, generous and all-consuming emotions.

This is a treasure, one I’ve listened to over and over… always a treat.

Love love love

Cute small town romance, but not a five star read… its so classic grumpy/sunshine, and even though you get this, the author even tells us «He was so grumpy»… like the reader is stupid… But overall, good for a light fluffy read.

Cute but predictable

Another fantastic audible book from Mariana. I love reading her books and I also love listening to them. For me she’s an author I buy without any hesitation. Her characters stay with me for ages afterwards. I will definitely listed to it again…. And again ☺️

Outstanding

I think the story would have been way more enjoyable if the female narrator had read the whole book. It did not make sense to have a male voice for Rhodes. it took ages before he had bigger parts, and you could get a better feel for him. he sounded awful robotic at the start. Callie Dalton does a lovely male voice.
I liked Auroras' journey.

I really enjoyed the story - although did take me a while to warm to narration of Rhodes - but the character won me over.

Heartwarming Romance

Zapata did it again. She's a magician.

I loved it all. The characters, the way the story slowly unfolded, the funny parts and the sad ones, all of it.
