About this listen

A direct sequel to Aliens and Alien 3—Weyland-Yutani, the Colonial Marines, and Bishop’s creator all pursue the android for the deadly Xenomorph data contained in his brain. Written by T. R. Napper, author of the acclaimed 36 Streets, whose explosive work explores the artificial intelligence and what it is to be human.

Massively damaged in Aliens and Alien 3, the synthetic Bishop asked to be shut down forever. His creator, Michael Bishop, has other plans. He seeks the Xenomorph knowledge stored in the android’s mind and brings Bishop back to life—but for what reason? No longer an employee of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, Michael tells his creation that he seeks to advance medical research for the benefit of humanity. Yet where does he get the resources needed to advance his work. With whom do his new allegiances lie?

Bishop is pursued by Colonial Marines Captain Marcel Apone, commander of the Il Conde and younger brother of Master Sergeant Alexander Apone, one of the casualties of the doomed mission to LV-426. Also on his trail are the “Dog Catchers,” commandos employed by Weyland-Yutani.

Who else might benefit from Bishop’s intimate knowledge of the deadliest creatures in the galaxy?

I generally look forward to an addition to the franchise and liked the fact there was an aspect from Bishop's perspective.

This really is a great edition to the aliens world and should have been the film that turned out as the very disappointing Alien resurrection.

Wow

Simple story but enjoyable, Lots of Easter eggs to original franchise, constantly moving forwards. Characters developed enough to make you want to know what happens next. Much better than some of the Alien/Predator Audible books.

Surprisingly good

A story about recovering Bishop, one of the best characters in the franchise, was an interesting concept so I had to pre-order it. Having listened to all the other Alien audiobooks I didn't set my hopes too high, some were great and some were very mediocre. The first thing that threw me was the change of narrator with each chapter, I didn't appreciate it at first and it felt a bit disjointed, but I grew accustomed to it and settled in to the pace. I think the author wanted us to care about the individual marines with lots of back-story presented, but I didn't. No marines however colourful will ever replace Hicks, Hudson, Vasquez et al. Don't even try!! Once the story got going, and that took a while, it was well paced and full of action. Bishop's narrator is uncommonly convincing and that's probably it's best selling point. I would definitely recommend a listen.

Welcome back Bishop

Great story from several perspectives, continuing the trend of recent Alien novels to flesh out the lore and universe it resides. well written characters and set pieces.

Great expansion of the Alien Universe

Good story but the narrator who dealt with Apone’s chapters was one of the worst I’ve ever heard. Really weird tone and pronunciation of the name Apone made me nearly turn it off.

Good story

You could probably not make a movie out of it but it was entertaining enough. Some obvious crowd pleasers made it more into the Aliens universe that Alien. And talking of that it is a bit silly that the creatures ate referred to as "aliens". But I must admit that the story had me stuck. Reading was good as well and mixed between two readers.

Entertaining story that follows the franchise
