I actually started with book 2, loved it! bought book 3 immediately but then went back to book 1. I think it made more sense because I could now see the game board and knew the players. Even if you went in order, I'd suggest rereading book 1.

Agent G is one of 26 hitmen for hire, working for the International Refugee Society (IRS). His memories of his previous life were wiped away even as cyber enhancements were installed. With the promise of restoring his memories, Agent G patiently works off his time for the IRS. His current mission is to infiltrate the opposition, the Carnivale, which is run by Caesar and his family. However, a mole within the IRS is making this a tricky, and possibly deadly, assignment.

Once again, Phipps brings me quality entertainment. This was a very fun read that had just enough seriousness to make me care about the characters and their fates. As Agent G wonders what kind of man he was before his time with the IRS, I too hoped he would find out and that it would be good for him. Each agent is assigned a handler (or personal assistant) and Marissa is assigned to Agent G. The two have a connection on a personal level. Marissa, like the Agents, has also had her memories wiped and has been enhanced to some extent by the IRS. However, she is much more replaceable than Agent G, so he sometimes worries about jeopardizing her life.

Besides the great characters, there’s plenty of fancy tech for us cyberpunk fans. Weapons, drugs, and criminal intrigue permeate this story. Agent G has plenty of mods and many of them come into play as he tries to wend his way through this double crossing, mole infested plot.

I also really enjoyed the ‘bad guys’, some of which are truly bad guys. Caesar and his adult kids bring out another side to Agent G, especially when he has to allow himself to be seduced. Yep, there’s a few sexytimes scenes sprinkled throughout the book. They were fine though not terribly erotic. That’s OK because Agent’s G’s sex appeal is written all over him with his competency and focus.

All around, it was a very fun listen and I look forward to seeing where Phipps takes this story next.

The Narration: Jeffrey Kafer is still one of my favorite narrators. He has the perfect voice for Agent G. It’s a touch gravelly but still sounds like a man in his 30s. I liked his mild Italian accent for the Casesar. Also his voice for Persephone (one of the people in charge at the IRS) was clipped and domineering, just like I pictured her.

Loved the narration of : Jeffrey Kafer

We have an action packed listen, gunfights , combat , assassins. Our hero ask no memories of his previous life, This listen has betrayals and plot-twists, sociopaths, Agent G discovers that his own humanity is not so easily quelled.

Yep the book might be a short, but it didn't feel like it was. I'd rather that than a load of meaningless padding that bores me.

The book is a serious view of a hidden agency that with secret dark technology keeps it's edge and the ordinary public unaware of it's task. Thankfully C. T. Phipps humour is also present and keeps it from getting too dark. I've read a number of other of his books and this one makes a great change to the supervillainy series. In this serious tech is your power as opposed to supernatural powers

As G your protagonist discovers himself and his memories, you discover that his employers might have their fingers in a few more pies than you'd first think.

I was truly not accepting such a good written book.
C. T. Phipps have actually done a remarkable job with this book, and Jeffrey Kafer narrated it perfectly, I’m really awestruck on what was accomplished here !
Great story, easy to understand and enjoyable, everything we would love to have in all books.

Not much to say only that I fully recommend this one to all.

Wow, Charles knocks it out of the park again with this assassin book. Action and mystery throughout sprinkled with his tell-tale dose of wit and sarcasm throughout!
Can’t fault the story and I’ve just downloaded book 2!
As for the narration, Jeffrey is amazing too. His characters are easily distinguished with great voices and he’s a perfect pairing for Charles’ books being able to pull off the dark, seriousness of the situations as well as switching to the snide (enough to make you smile!), sarky remarks.
Really love this combo!

I enjoyed the authors Supervilliany series so thought I would give this series ago. So glad I did as I really enjoyed it. I loved everything about it from the action, to the sarcasm, to the many plot twists, it is packed full of entertainment that will have you wanting more, good job there is a second book in the series. The characters were great and you can't help but like them even if there are killers. The plot is very similar to a few movie plots but with C.T.Phipps unique stamp imprinted all over it it is a must listen for any audio book fan.
Agent G is just a letter with no past, a man designed to be an assassin. But what happens when that is not enough any more? Or when the little piece of evidence leads you to believing that your father has been kidnapped by the enemy? Or that the enemy has started eliminating other letters, fellow hitmen, the people you call your friends. And one of your own is giving that information. For Agent G that means taking on a new face and going undercover in the very organisation that you are trying to take down. But at what cost? And is it to high to pay?
I really like Jeffrey Kafer as the narrator . I have listened to a number of books read by him and enjoyed them every time. His voice was designed for this kind of action packed story with his comic timing.

Agent G isn't just an assassin whose mind has been wiped but also a bad-ass of note. He and other characters in the book have also been augmented in other ways, which I didn't expect. This isn't too much of a spoiler because its right at the start of the book: I loved the first assassination where he leaves the car and a replacement body on the railtracks to make it seem like a suicide! Brilliant!

Lots of action and twists! A good start to the series.
