About this listen

The local ladies all deem Mr John a wizard, so when Agatha finds a few grey hairs on her head - and the rinse she tries at home turns her hair purple - she makes a beeline for the handsome Evesham hairdresser. And as well as sorting out her hair it soon becomes clear the charming man also has designs on her heart - but their future together is cut short when Mr John is fatally poisoned in his salon.

Once again Agatha finds herself embroiled in a murder case. Was it one of Mr John's many customers, all of whom divulged to him their darkest secrets?

Penny Keith is super in this role and just about musters enough accents to make it work. Story is ok but same old, same old! I have listened to all of these books and I like finding narrative inconsistencies, a bit odd when you consider the author and editors must proof read multiple times.

Formulaic but fun

Really good book! I didn’t expect the ending, so many twists and turns which kept me engaged.

Twist and turns

Started out as a well read novel but deteriorated into a sort of one-man play. Barely bothered about the end as the characters lost their appeal.

Penelope Keith's voice is a dream.

Im so pleased that more titles in this series have now been recorded, im infilling the books I missed, loved the title and the plot and so well read by Penelope Kieth, she brings all the characters to life and is just perfect to read this series. Thank you,

Amazing as ever, thank you 🙏🏻

I love this series but this one, in my opinion, was not one of the best. I'm not sure why, it just didn't seem to have the usual impact on me. It's still worth a listen but, unlike some of the other titles, I probably won't listen to it again.

Not one of the best but still good

This was the first Agatha Raisin book I’ve listened to. Was having a bad weekend and needed something to cheer me up. This was it. So well read by Penelope Keith and she brings the characters to life. Will definitely be adding more titles to my library.

Thoroughly enjoyable

Agatha Raisin is as always.... good. So is Penelope Keith reading the story. I cannot imagine anyone else doing the dialogue. Agatha reminds me of myself.

Another good M. C. Beaton.

As usual Penelope Keith narrated the story to perfection. I do love the way M C Beaton writes her stories, intreging and comforting. I am still smiling with only just finishing the book, I will look for the next one now.

Totally enjoyable

As usual Penelope Keith’s reading of the book was outstanding
MC Beaton produced the goods, once again, as the world of hairdressing gave her the opportunity for some hair raising moments

Full of twists and red herrings
