About this listen

Agatha Raisin's neighbouring village of Ancombe is usually the epitome of quiet rural charm, but the arrival of a new mineral-water company - which intends to tap into the village spring - sends tempers flaring and divides the parish council into two stubborn camps.

When Agatha, who just happens to be handling the PR for the water company, finds the council chairman murdered at the basin of the spring, tongues start wagging. Could one of the council members have polished off the chairman before he could cast the deciding vote? Poor Agatha, still nursing a bruised heart from one of her unsuccessful romantic encounters, must get cracking, investigate the councillors and solve the crime.

Another easy listening tape.

Narration by Penelope Keith, as always, was brilliant. She IS Agatha Raisin as far as I am concerned. I did not find the story as good as others in London he collection.

Good as always....

Agatha Raisin is as always.... good. So is Penelope Keith reading the story. I cannot imagine anyone else doing the dialogue. Agatha reminds me at times of myself.

Another totally enjoyable story

Always look forward to hearing what Aggie gets up to, plus the scraps she gets herself into. Beautifully narrated by Penelope Keith as always, will get the next in series now. Highly recommend this book

Did M. C. Beaton change her editor?

I have to say I'm one of the biggest Agatha/Penelope fans ever, I listen to them all and then start all over again.
However this one is a bit of an anomaly. American words creeping in eg. 'Closet' and five split infinitives (shudder!), this just isn't M.C.Beaton. I wonder if she changed her editor for this book.

Enjoyable

Just like the other Agatha Raisin storing, I have read so far, I liked the story and the narration. I am starting to warm up to the Agatha slughtly abrasive character. She is definitely growing on me :)

Highly enjoyable light listening

This is not my usual fare. I came across the first 4 novels in a compendium I bought by impulse in a sale. I read and thoroughly enjoyed them as a some holiday reading.

The audiobooks are well enough read by Penelope Keith. Some of the characterisations may be a bit lacking but the story telling is engaging.

As bed time listening they are recommended.
