About this listen

Winter Parva, a traditional Cotswolds village next door to Carsely, has decided to throw a celebratory hog roast to mark the beginning of the winter holiday festivities and Agatha Raisin has arrived with friend and rival in the sleuthing business, Toni, to enjoy the merriment. But, as the spit pig is carried towards the bed of fiery charcoal, Agatha - and the rest of the village - realise that things aren't as they seem...

Very quickly it transpires that the spit pig is in fact Gary Beech, a policeman not much loved in Winter Parva. And although Agatha has every intention of leaving the affair to the police, she rapidly changes her mind when she finds out Gary's ex-wife has hired Toni to investigate. Cantankerous and competitive as Agatha is, she has to now join the fray and try and solve the case herself!

the plot definitely thickened

enjoyed this book immensely. I like the fact that there's a story in a story. The way we are allowed to enter into the thoughts of the characters makes the story fun

Performance

Penelope Keith is a great narrator. Triffic Birmingham accent.
Story about far fetched. Pity all the rest have been really good.

Good fun!

An enjoyable, light cosy mystery. Wonderful characters, funny and engaging. Nicely read by Penelope Keith.

more of the good stuff

Another rollicking ramble through the Criminal Cotswolds, Penelope Keith's accents are as dire as ever but who cares, she brings the irascible Agatha to life as brilliantly as ever

Excellent plot

Liked the story line immensely, The ideas get better and better. It had the lightweight comedy at the end that really completes these books.

Lovely cosy humorous murder mysteries

Love Penelope Keith’s narration, listen to other narrators but it just doesn’t work without Pen - one issue only is the continuity, as Simon returns and I recalled in the last book that his parents had died in a car crash, but have somehow been resurrected.!!

Once again a wonderfully read and entertaining listen.

Penelope Keith really does bring all of this series and their characters to life, yet again another very good listen. Thank you

plenty of twists and turns

Well read with plenty of voice characterisation. All the old favourites along with Agatha and plenty of action.

enjoyable

I'm a big fan of the Agatha Raisin books and overall this didn't disappoint, however the change of the character Simons background in this book was a little frustrating, he'd previously been an orphan but now his parents are alive?! But as lighthearted detective fiction these books are always enjoyable as are the regular flawed but likeable characters
