––––––––––––––––––

TWO CHILDREN WENT INTO THE SEA.

When Andrew and Sophie take their daughter and her friend to the beach on a stormy day, they are momentarily distracted and both children are washed out to sea. Andrew dives in, but comes back ashore with only one child – Maria, his own daughter. Joe, the son of his best friend and local police officer, Chris, has drowned. But it was just a tragic accident…wasn’t it?

ONLY ONE CAME OUT ALIVE.

As Sergeant Mike Adams and DS Sue Willmott investigate what really happened in the water that afternoon, the ripple effects of the tragedy tear the community apart. The detectives must discover the truth before their colleague – bereaved and desperate father, Chris – takes the investigation into his own hands…

BUT WHO IS TO BLAME?

Gripping page turner is an understatement

I was gripped from the first page and truly absorbed. Original storyline and great narration on the audiobook. So looking forward to reading the author's next book.

Be prepared for this to be like a punch to the gut!!

⛈️🌊 REVIEW 🌊⛈️

After The Storm by G. D. Wright

I’m going to try to articulate how I feel about this book besides F*CKIN BRILLIANT 🤩 (sorry it’s been oasis manc chav mode in this house today 🙄)

Swipe for the synopsis

I listened to this on audio and WOW!! Be prepared for this to be like a punch to the gut!!

I had a white knuckle menty b of a journey 😭to and from my friend’s house and had to pull myself together before I got out of the car BOTH there and back!! It’s been such a brilliant listen!! I didn’t want it to end!

I did buy the kindle book but my migraines didn’t permit me to read on kindle and for once I’m actually really glad!

I cannot get over that this is Gary’s debut- and WHAT a debut!!

The behind the scenes accuracy of the police procedures come from Gary’s own personal experience as a police officer for Kent Police. That level of detail really brings something more to the story.

The emotional and explosive rollercoaster this books takes you on is one that everyone needs!! I can’t really say more without ruining it!

I did have an inkling early on what had happened but that’s not unusual for me (I’m known for predicting pregnancies before even the parents know 🤭yes more than a couple) but this didn’t spoil anything for me or make it any less explosive for me.

Sounds like a reality show narrator

Two problems with this audio book- 1) the narrator sounds like they are narrating love island or come done with me or something- their expression and intonation is often completely wrong for the sentence they are reading. 2) the writing- constant he said, she said, he shouted, she cried, he wondered. Quite poor writing and really tedious to listen to.
