Take a journey to a vanished world with the Adventures in Time series - stories so exciting you won't believe they're all true.

Winter has come; and in a far distant land, a warrior queen is expecting a child....

Step through these pages into the Tudor world: a dangerous place, where one misstep could cost your life. Through the eyes of Henry VIII's six very different queens, from a brave Spanish princess to a wise English widow, historian Dominic Sandbrook takes us on a thrilling journey through the twists and turns of a dramatic age. For no one is safe from the wheel of fortune: it can take you from a golden throne to the Tower of London....

The Adventures in Time series brings the past alive for 21st-century children. These stories are every bit as exciting as those of Harry Potter or Matilda Wormwood. The only difference is they actually happened....

This series is perfect for all listeners who enjoy tales of heroes, villains, jousting, beheadings and fat tyrants.

As an adult feeling ignorant about my lack of knowledge of this incredible era, I absolutely loved this easily to follow and throughly compelling account. And not just of the six wives, but of some of the other players in Henry’s court who played pivotal roles in the twists and turns of loyalty and betrayal.

It’s written simply - which I liked, and the story is told without the ‘stuffiness’ of some historians who write of Henry and his wives. The writer is also the narrator and his voice is authoritative, yet his style kept me interested throughout the chapters, without being overly dramatic.

Just wonderful! Can’t wait to listen again!

Brilliant - easy to follow, thoroughly enjoyable

Starting with the killing ground that was the Battle of Bosworth in 1485 and ending with the death of Henry VIII in 1547, this is an engaging and accessible narrative account of the reign of Henry VIII through the perspective of his six wives. Pacey and well structured, this is a good listen and the narrator does very well in making this into a informative and relaxed account of a turbulent corner of British history.

An accessible account of the reign of Henry VIII

Another brilliant book. Bringing to life Tudor times and the trials and tribulations of Henry’s wives in the context of the wider social and religious turmoil of his reign and the impact of his decisions through the ages since.

Super!
