About this listen

From the twelve-million copy bestselling author of the Lewis trilogy comes a chilling new mystery set in the isolated Scottish Highlands.

A tomb of ice

A young meteorologist checking a mountain top weather station in Kinlochleven discovers the body of a missing man entombed in ice.

A dying detective

Cameron Brodie, a Glasgow detective, sets out on a hazardous journey to the isolated and ice-bound village. He has his own reasons for wanting to investigate a murder case so far from his beat.

An agonizing reckoning

Brodie must face up to the ghosts of his past and to a killer determined to bury forever the chilling secret that his investigation threatens to expose.

Set against a backdrop of a frighteningly plausible near-future, A Winter Grave is Peter May at his best.

This is a brilliantly new exciting book written by Peter May - read by Peter Forbes, who captured the atmospheric essence . From the beginning I was absorbed and listened in one sitting. The dystopian bleak future of the parts of Scotland I know and love are disturbing, the story of love, guilt, and government betrayal and inaction are a warning to us all.

Although not carrying the bleak gravitas of the Shetland series, this story was beautifully crafted. A dystopian future which is totally believable, with some currency added by some great side-stories made this almost unputdownable for me. Flawlessly narrated and cleverly crafted.

Didn’t enjoy Winter Grave as much as I usually enjoy Peter May’s other books. Disappointing.

I’m a huge fan of Peter May and I could listen to Peter Forbes all day and all night!
‘A Winter Grace’, is an intriguing story and I really like the protagonist, Cameron Brodie. I found the potential vision of the future interesting and the plot had many twists and turns. There were a few predictable scenes three quarters of the way through the novel. But this didn’t detract from the enjoyment and excitement. It’s well worth listening to!
