Aaron Envelar thought a sellsword's life was as dangerous as any life could be.

i still enjoy Aaron's inget dialogs, but most characters and events in this book are quite flat and boring while Aaron's character is beginning to border on toxic masculinity.

A bit cliche and slower than the first book

Like a sports car that's handicapped by a speed limiter or weighed down by a trailer. It ploughs on and the scope, range and variety of the story seem LIMITED. I picked it up after finishing the 1st book and prologue but this story....or this author seems reluctant to move on. (like it's on rations)

The main character is TOO THICK at times. Now anyone can miss a hint but in this story it feels unrealistic. Broke my suspension of disbelief. Especially as he is introduced as clever, alert and intelligent.

In a way it's suddenly starting to feel like a Young Adult book. Dim character, slow paced to ration out the saga, unbelievable outcomes....

It's not all bad, but if you like RANGE; variety of scenes, personalities, development, events...then this episode has stepped firmly on the brakes. Unless you like the Young Adult genre.

Has potential but it feels dumbed down.

The first book showed so much promise. Now it's full of rambling dialogue and the plot armour is on another level. It baffles me how his dead weight companions are not dropping like flies. And Aaron has turned into season 8 Jon Snow. Will be dropping the series here. Shame.

I had hoped the Aaron Character would improve and act like the mercenary he was supposed to be, but there has been little improvement. Adina also seems to come across as arrogant, naive and quite an irritating character.
Leomin's ramblings seem to take up a lot of space and I am not sure whether they are a plus or negative. Also, I think the narration is a real let down, which, doesn’t help sell the book.
