About this listen
K. J. Charles turns up the heat in her new Society of Gentlemen novel as two lovers face off in a sensual duel that challenges their deepest beliefs.
Silas Mason has no illusions about himself. He's not lovable or even likable. He's an overbearing idealist, a radical bookseller and pamphleteer who lives for revolution...and for Wednesday nights. Every week he meets anonymously with the same man, in whom Silas has discovered the ideal meld of intellectual companionship and absolute obedience to his sexual commands. But, unbeknownst to Silas, his closest friend is also his greatest enemy, with the power to see him hanged - or spare his life.
A loyal, well-born gentleman official, Dominic Frey is torn apart by his affair with Silas. By the light of day, he cannot fathom the intoxicating lust that drives him to meet with the radical week after week. In the bedroom everything else falls away. Their needs match, and they are united by sympathy for each other's deepest vulnerabilities. But when Silas' politics earn him a death sentence, desire clashes with duty, and Dominic finds himself doing everything he can to save the man who stole his heart.

Would you consider the audio edition of A Seditious Affair to be better than the print version?
Yes, only because it is read to you by Matthew Lloyd Davies and he pulls you into the story and characters that KJ Charles has created. What other book might you compare A Seditious Affair to, and why?
I don't think I can compare A Seditious Affair to any other book I have read....KJ Charles is in a league of her own.Have you listened to any of Matthew Lloyd Davies’s other performances? How does this one compare?
A Fashionable Indulgence. The first book in KJ Charles A Society of Gentlemen series. I think both are equal in performance. KJ Charles couldn't have got a better man for the job.If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Prepare to think and be dazzled.Any additional comments?

Enter Dominic Frey, a monied gentleman, government supporter, and civil service operative, and Silas Mason, who's everything Frey isn't. Or so it seems.
Their story and all the threads KJ Charles weaves around them, makes this novel one of my all-time favourites. There's William Blake, bookselling, assignation houses, love, sex, politics, and a wonderful, wonderful story.
A Regency tale with added rage

There's a plot which isn't just about love which is great!
The voice acting is good as you can distinguish the characters from each other.
I didn't realised they had used a stock image for the cover as this story is set in the 1820s and so it's not really what I'd expect, Which is a shame that they used the image to sell their book but really good reviews.
It is refreshing to find a gay romance book that isn't trash.
Ignore the cover- it's not your typical love story

This story has everything, history, rage, injustice, Blake, poetry, love, sex, and two utterly beautiful characters. I'm sad it's done. I will listen to this again
