I don't think I can compare A Seditious Affair to any other book I have read....KJ Charles is in a league of her own.

A Fashionable Indulgence. The first book in KJ Charles A Society of Gentlemen series. I think both are equal in performance. KJ Charles couldn't have got a better man for the job.

I mostly enjoyed this book, my only issue was that often when the voice actor took on Silas' voice, he was much too quiet in comparison to the rest of the recording.

I preferred this to the first book, there was much more tension and nuance and risk involved. Thoroughly enjoyable, and can’t wait to read the mini instalments and get to listen to the next third book.

What a fantastic sequel

Rage? If your view of the Regency period is coloured by romance novels following in the footsteps of Jane Austen, this book will make you think again. The first two decades of the nineteenth century were also a period of seething anger, political action, and ruthless government crackdowns. New ideas, new visions of how civil society might be framed were viewed by those in charge as existential threats which had to be supressed.

Enter Dominic Frey, a monied gentleman, government supporter, and civil service operative, and Silas Mason, who's everything Frey isn't. Or so it seems.

Their story and all the threads KJ Charles weaves around them, makes this novel one of my all-time favourites. There's William Blake, bookselling, assignation houses, love, sex, politics, and a wonderful, wonderful story.

Another excellent episode of this trilogy. The historical depth is enthralling. The narration is an absolute joy. So good in fact that I can almost see the characters.

From the get go, this story is engaging. There is sex but it's not awful like in other stories. There's character in these characters and they aren't just copy and paste vanilla male adonises like so many of gay modern romances.

There's a plot which isn't just about love which is great!

The voice acting is good as you can distinguish the characters from each other.

I didn't realised they had used a stock image for the cover as this story is set in the 1820s and so it's not really what I'd expect, Which is a shame that they used the image to sell their book but really good reviews.

It is refreshing to find a gay romance book that isn't trash.

What an age to have lived in, such a great devide between the classes a d the thought of being hung drawn and quartered is horrific. Well written and narrated.

Half way through book one I just wanted to know more about Silas, and Dominic. And boy they did not disappoint!
This story has everything, history, rage, injustice, Blake, poetry, love, sex, and two utterly beautiful characters. I'm sad it's done. I will listen to this again

I'm a straight seventy something woman but this series, although featuring gay men and fairly graphic sex, is rivetting for the story line alone.
