What is not to love about this book? Bad boy, small town, marriage of convenience, it's all there are ready to listen to and I could not get enough of Raif and Jemima! Jemima has had it tough, now finding her way back to Eureka and she has a girl with her. She rescued Nikki from a horrible situation, but now needs to do whatever she has to keeping the girl safe. When she meets Raif, the attraction is instant. She sees right into the good man that he is, but his reputation precedes him, making him one of the town bad boys. Constantly sticking up for the man, he is the one she turns to when she needs help. Married couples have an easier time adopting and keeping Nikki safe with a fake marriage may be the way to get the proceedings done quicker. But is it really fake? Danger, passion, small town gossip, and true love is all there for the taking, and that is exactly what I did. Raif is quite the man, putting himself at risk for those he loves. Jemima is a strong woman, and she will do anything for those she loves. This is a fabulous addition to the Be Still series and rounds it out perfectly!

Dane Anderson is the bad boy, and he creates Raif perfectly. A bit of danger, yet a lot of warmth, his voice had me from the start. Willa Jaymes comes in as Jemima, and she is spectacular. She is vulnerable, scared yet so brave and passionate. These two find the essence of the characters and create a story that comes alive and for me made an entertaining listen.

Jemima has returned to her hometown to be close to her sister, but she didn’t return alone. When she realized the situation that Nikki was in Jemima was determined to protect her and that included taking her from the man she was with and pretending that Nikki was staying with her until her mother returned. When that man catches up with them, she knows that the best way to protect Nikki is to adopt her and what better way to ensure that happens then a marriage of convenience with Raif.

Raif has been judged based on the actions of his family and Jemima is one of the few people in town to see him for who he is. When Jemima needs his help, he is determined to protect her and Nikki and she makes him want to be a better man but he must overcome a dangerous obstacle first.

Both Raif and Jemima try to make the right choices, but life hasn’t always been kind to them. In each other they find the support and understanding they both need and the love they share is undeniable. The narrators were a great choice for the characters as they allowed you to experience the emotion, romance, and suspense of the story.
