About this listen

Now an original series starring Rosamund Pike as Moiraine!

Since its debut in 1990, The Wheel of Time® by Robert Jordan has captivated millions of readers around the globe with its scope, originality, and compelling characters.

The Wheel of Time turns and Ages come and go, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth returns again. In the Third Age, an Age of Prophecy, the World and Time themselves hang in the balance. What was, what will be, and what is, may yet fall under the Shadow.

The seals of Shayol Ghul are weak now, and the Dark One reaches out. The Shadow is rising to cover humankind.

In Tar Valon, Min sees portents of hideous doom. Will the White Tower itself be broken?

In the Two Rivers, the Whitecloaks ride in pursuit of a man with golden eyes, and in pursuit of the Dragon Reborn.

In Cantorin, among the Sea Folk, High Lady Suroth plans the return of the Seanchan armies to the mainland.

In the Stone of Tear, the Lord Dragon considers his next move. It will be something no one expects, not the Black Ajah, not Tairen nobles, not Aes Sedai, not Egwene or Elayne or Nynaeve.

Against the Shadow rising stands the Dragon Reborn...

Critic reviews

"Amid all the Sturm und Drang...is a finely tuned comic strain that both leavens the story and adds to its development. This latest installment of a major fantasy epic definitely will not disappoint its fans." ( Booklist)

The narrators live with each other, but don’t remember the names

Now I am half way through the series I am loving it. But it seems that the narrators didn’t even bother to listen to each other’s part ... I spent 15 minutes wondering if I had missed a new character only to realise that one of the narrators pronounced it completely differently!!!

Sloppy editing

Many lines are spoken twice. It seems someone forgot to edit out second takes.
That is an annoying detail for a product of this price

One to return to again and again

I have been listening to these stories over an over again for at least 5 years. So many things I missed and parts I never fully caught the gist of. With so many episodes it takes me a while to get through them and when I do I'm ready to start again, it's like I never really want to let go. Brilliantly written and narrated, so much imagination and detail, for me it's one of the classics.

consistently captivating

Needed something to fill the George Martin gap and found absolute treasure. All the books so far have been brilliant.

Quality of recording was poor

The book itself was good but compared to others in the series, the recording was poor. It kept repeating sections which made me wonder if it's missed anything out

the wheel weaves as the wheel will....

this sage of stories is VERY long, but it is one of the best stories i have read / listened too!! you will not crack it in a short amount of time, just slowly enjoy each book (even with something else in between!) and it is totally amazing!!

Longest fantasy storyline ever but still reading..

A Crown of Swords is not the most entertaining of this series, but delivers enough that I keep listening. A pet peeve: It seems that the "strong women" in this series always end up ruling by boxing ears or shouting, conspiring or threatening people. Or by being jealous or cold. As annoying as it is, at least he is trying to create strong female leads. The men tend to strike stereotypes too, but if you accept these terms, it's quite an impressive world you get to live in with these books. Having gotten this far, I guess I am sticking to the end. It's not easy to find decent fantasy books. Looking forward to seeing what Brandon Sanderson will make of the last books in this series. Can only be good right?
