Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, if they've listened to or read the earlier nooks in the series. It's pretty pacey, a bit gory in places and the time soon goes when you're following the story.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

I remember thinking at the time I wasn't hugely surprised by the ending - but I'm blowed now if I can remember what it was! Maybe a good thing if I decide to listen to the story again.

What does Carolyn McCormick bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

Didn't rate this as much as some others in the series. I do wonder why Boxer has to be a bit of a one-man-band-only -I-can-save-the-world. I also thought some of the things she did were very unlikely / unbeleivable

Not a very complicated plot but gripping so I wanted to listen to it eagerly every chance I got. If you like James Patterson then I'm sure you will enjoy this one.

The only reason I marked this down by 1* was due to the cheesy music at certain points. If I could have chosen half a * it would have been more suited. My suspicion is that the music was supposed to add dramatic effect but for me it was simply a distraction. As somebody who listens to audiobooks whilst driving, the background noise of music over the speech was enough for me not to clearly hear what was being said sometimes. Other than that a brilliantly written book that had me blubbing like a baby.

Just finished this book - a good listern - nice characters and a good double plot. will certainly try another. The narator was easy to listern to and was able to distinguish the different characters even though there was an underlying sameness but not enough to make it a problem. Would recommend

I was seriously disappointed by this audiobook.

First of all, if your husband beats and rapes you and you'd rather be with your lesbian g/f anyway, JUST GET A DIVORCE! No need to become a cat burglar first.

Second, if you're tired of your wife or husband and would rather be with somebody else's wife or husband, BOTH JUST GET A DIVORCE! No need to shoot the wife.

As for the main serial killer plot, it's quite horrid and shocking, but that's about it. It's not particularly clever or entertaining, it's just repulsive.

Also, this audiobook has some very strange sound effects. I guess it's supposed to heighten the suspense, so every time something dramatic happens, this weird music will start playing. Sorry, but it just doesn't work.

I wouldn't bother with this.

Perhaps my mistake was to listen to Stieg Larsson's excellent Millennium trilogy immediately before Patterson's/Paetro's jointly-written 9th Judgement, but while the former is a gripping experience from first page to last (all 64 hours of it) superbly read by Saul Reichlin, the latter unfortunately is a huge disappointment. I would never argue that Larsson's heroine is remotely believable, but the characters in his three books are very well-drawn, the storylines are complex and engaging, and everything comes together to a satisfying conclusion. The 9th Judgement however is full of unbelievable and ill-defined characters with whom it is almost impossible to empathise, and it has a storyline that one of your other reviewers described accurately as "repulsive". There is a lack of cohesion about the whole piece, and the finale is weak. There is also a complete section after the main denouement that seems as though it's just been bolted on for no apparent reason. The use of music at many stages in the reading is distracting and inappropriate, and is quite unlike the effective use of music in Audible's unabridged version of Frank Herbert's "Dune" (another great audiobook). I'll try another Patterson book from Audible in due course since he is clearly a much better writer than is evidenced here, but it won't be from this Women's Murder Club series. I really wanted to like this book when I downloaded it, but I'm afraid it just didn't work for me.
