地政学の視座は、戦後長い期間、日本では忘れられていた。他方で、グローバル化が進み、相互依存が進展した現在における地政学は、一世紀前にイギリスの地理学者マッキンダーが想定していたものとは似て非なるものである。
本書では、それを「新しい地政学」と称して、そのような「新しい地政学」の誕生と、それにともなう国際秩序の変化を、当代気鋭の研究者たちが様々な角度から明らかにしていく。
