Sometimes short story collections feel like an earnest Master of Arts dissertation rather than anything that is really meant be entertaining. This feels that Violet Blue is trying to make the reader aware of the writers and their sub-genres, not arose nor entertain. A male submission theme is dominant, and once you are half way through becomes boringly predictable, though dispassionately informative. Though I certainly feel educated, the main disappointment is that VB can do so much better.

More like a lecture than a short story collection
