About this listen
Liam loves his life as a linguist and trader on the Rownt homeworld, but he has ignored his heart and sexual needs for years. After escaping the horrors of war, he wants a boring life. He won't risk letting anyone come too close because he won't risk letting anyone see his deeply submissive nature. For him, submission comes with pain. Life burned that lesson into his soul from a young age.
This fear keeps him from noticing that the Rownt trader Ondry cares for him. Ondry may not understand humans, but he recognizes a wounded soul, and his need to protect Liam is quickly outpacing his common sense. They may have laws, culture, and incompatible genitalia in their way, but Ondry knows that he can find a way to overcome all that if he can just overcome the ghosts of Liam's past. Only then can he take possession of a man he has grown to respect.
Contains mature themes.

I really like all the books in the series and never got bored through any of them.
Very good, unique worldbuilding

John Solo obviously cared enough to distinguish and distinctly voice everyone. I highlight his stilted, clipped and almost monotone delivery for Ondry and the slower, more lyrical cadence for the Grandmothers. The Rownt do sound ‘alien’ but Mr. Solo imbues their vocalization with gentleness that they resonate. A soft baritone for Liam is perfect and with great skill, the narrator conveys his open, accepting nature. Mr. Solo is so expressive here, creating an immersive listening experience. With his vocal tics and all, his performance is remarkable.
TLDR: The writing is flawless, the story is original, the alien world is imaginative and the protagonists are endearing! I only thought to try this book because it was free in the Plus Catalogue. Four credits later, I own the entire Claimings Series because I revisit this world so often.
Flawless! Inventive! Original!

In Claimings, Tails, and Other Alien Artifacts Humans are on the Rownt homeworld. Relations are new and tentatively peaceful. The main contact between Humans and Rownt is through trading.
Liam is a human trader. Ater regular trading meetings with the Rownt, Ondry, a trust is built which leads to their relationship growing even more.
love how the author portrayed the communication between these two species. It made this sci-fi romance feel real. Rownt and Human society are very different, but through communication (which is difficult at points) and they make it work.
Looking forward to getting to the rest of this series and learning more about this world, and about Liam and Ondry.
Lyn gala writes amazing sci-fi romance!
