About this listen
After four years abroad, artist Jonas Davenport has come home to start building his dream of owning his own art studio and gallery. But just as he's ready to put the darkness of his past behind him forever, it comes roaring back with a vengeance.
The only thing keeping ex-cop Mace Calhoun from eating his own gun after an unthinkable loss is his role in an underground syndicate that seeks to get justice for the innocent by taking the lives of the guilty. Ending the life of the young artist who committed unspeakable crimes against the most vulnerable of victims should have been the easiest thing in the world. So why can't he bring himself to pull the trigger?
After years of fighting in an endless, soul-sucking war, Navy SEAL Cole Bridgerton has come home to fight another battle - dealing with the discovery that the younger sister who ran away from home eight years earlier is lost to him forever. He needs answers and the only person who can give them to him is a young man struggling to put his life back together. But he never expected to feel something more for the haunted artist.
Cole and Mace. One lives by the rules, the other makes his own. One seeks justice through the law while the other seeks it with his gun. Two men, one light, one dark, will find themselves and each other when they're forced to stand side by side to protect Jonas from an unseen evil that will stop at nothing to silence the young artist forever.
But each man's scars run deep and even the strength of three may not be enough to save them.

What made the experience of listening to Absolution the most enjoyable?
I'd already read the book but when I saw that this was available on audio I couldn't resist. I'd really enjoyed the book, but as an audio addict I knew I'd enjoy having it narrated to me as I commute to and from work.Having the characters brought to life by audio doubled my enjoyment of what is already a wonderful story.
What did you like best about this story?
I love the characters - they're all messed up in their own way but together they make sense.Which character – as performed by Joel Leslie – was your favourite?
Mace. Oh God, that voice sent shivers through me. So perfect.I've searched out and purchased another audio by him I loved his performance that much. The only other narrator I did that for was Sean Crisden and that opened up a load of doors to author's I'd not read before so I hope this does the same!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I wish that I could - no time for that sort of luxury - but I found I couldn't wait for my next trip in the car so I could listen for 45 minutes or so.Any additional comments?
Buy this book!Great story, great performance

This audio book was gifted to me by the author. I'm sorry to say that although the story is OK, the narration IMHO is not. Joel Leslie's interpretation of Jonas was fine, cos that must be within his normal range of voice. His narration of Mace however...well, it sounded exactly like his attempt to voice Law Castille in Jez Morrow's 'Force of Law'...poor. Mr Leslie obviously can't narrate the imagined voices of deep, commanding 'alpha' men as he adopts a raspy, wavering, barely there tone which irritates...so why does he bother?? I didn't listen far enough into the audio book to hear what his narration of Cole was like I'm afraid.
As for the story....my Goodreads review April 2016. Have you heard the one about the gay guy, the bisexual and the straight ex Navy Seal?? No?? Well, I suggest you read this story, and prepare to suspend disbelief AND accept a humongous amount of sometimes eye-rolling drama. What could be included in the story was...insta-love, drunken parents, teen abuse, a vigilante squad, death, human trafficking...you name it, it was there BUT for all that, it was a decent enough read and I was happy that there was a HEA for the 3 stars of the story - Jonas, Mace and Cole.
Have to say this series has improved as it's progressed, but if Joel Leslie is the series narrator, I won't be listening to any more.
Sorry Joel, no more audio from you...

For me the amazing narration by Joel Leslie really pulled me into the various emotions that Jonas, Mace and Cole go through and raised it to 5 stars.
